In the heart of a moonlit forest, where shadows danced and sighs lingered, a love as old as time did indeed shed its delicate shadow.

It was a love between two vampires, creatures of the night; their souls now entwined in darkness, each heartbeat softly pounding through the silent woods.

At dead of night they would meet under the vast boughs of ancient trees, their desire lighting up the night as brightly as the stars above.

Amelia was there to meet her beloved Alexander beneath the light of the moon, once again―with a look that could trap even the most elusive beasts.

As for Alexander, he―who had coalesced into existence over centuries, was a bear-of-man with eyes filled full of worlds.

They were forbidden lovers; born of bloodlines sworn to enmity, yet it flourished against all odds, a validation to the resilience of the heart.

“Alexander,” Amelia whispered gently her soft words ringing in the air around him as he came to her desperate for her as she for him. “Our love will never die.”

“Yes, my darling,” Alexander responded his deep voice seemed to shake the ground at their feet. “But we must be cautious. Our love is an eternal flame at night that could consume us both if we are not on guard.”

She nodded and her heart ached for their predicament. “Yes, dearest. When we are together the world is nothing but this very moment and this bond between you and me.”

Both of them embraced and kissed beneath the ancient trees. Their body melted into one another, and hearts beat together with synchronized rhythm of nature.

In each other’s arms, they found consolation from the loneliness that dogged their eternal lives for centuries, a respite of peace in a world awash with chaos and uncertainty.

“Tell me, Alexander,” Amelia murmured, her lips brushing his ear in a tantalizing caress. “Tell me about the amazing wonders you have seen and the adventures which you have made over your long years.”

She slowly learned from Alexander about the world while spawning pictures in her mind of his vivid works. He flavored it with sunsets across desert sands, shadowed peaks capped by snow, and towns filled to overflowing with life and laughter.

Every word became a song for longing.

As they talked, the night deepened and paused for hours on end. The moon glided across the sky like an unseen guardian caught in momentary tension.

“I’m just glad we settled for a moonlit flit, dear,” said Amelia softly with immense anticipation. With these words, her voice moved the wind gently.

“Yes, Amelia. The moonlight adds an aura of sorcery to all, doesn’t it?” Alexander replied, eyes glittering. Now he looked up into her face.

“At moments of this kind, I feel alive as never before — every nerve and sinew of my body is on fire with longing,” said Amelia causing a quick element of endearment to enter Alexander’s personal space.

He was so close that the presence of her body was almost overpoweringly attractive.

With a grin that was nearly feral, and his pulse racing from the heady rush of their secret liaison, “So, Amelia, in your company every second is an adventure. A move into the unknown.”

Amelia’s laughter jingled into the night air, eventually becoming nothing but bits of sweet fragrance wafting into Alexander’s embrace.

His body was already humming with expectation. “Even on the darkest of nights, you somehow find a way to light the fire within me, Alexander.”

Together they strolled through moonlit forest — the rhythm of a hooting owl on tree was in sync with the languid flow between them of yearning and passion.

“I never dreamed I’d meet someone who could understand the deepest of my desires and passion,” Amelia breathed into the wind.

Alexander’s eyes burned into her, his fingers softly trailing along her jawline. “We are two souls in a danse macabre, light and shade competing for amalgamation! We’ll eventually lit up together in peak of our desires.”

Amelia’s breath was sucked in as Alexander’s words and manner roused something deep within her, a hunger that only he could understand. “I am yours, Alexander. Body and soul.”

“You are mine, Amelia,” Alexander reiterated. Their lips met in a kiss that set the world on fire with passion and want. They fused into each other under the moon’s calm blessing, lost in a timeless embrace where love and eternity were indistinguishable.

At daybreak neither willing to move back at all; they clung together more desperately than ever before, unwilling to release these momentary bursts of yearning that shot through their veins even if only for a moment longer.

Then Alexander said, ‘It’s time!’ His voice was thick within that first light of dawn, which had begun now to gild the horizon with its burs of crimson and gold.

“My love we must part for now, or else the rays of the sun would turn us both to ashes. His heart bleeds with gratitude for all they have done to help his beloved to learn,” he said more firmly and gently put one arm around her slender shoulders.

Amelia nodded, her eyes full of tears, winking like stars in the depths of morning mist. “I will wait for you, Alexander, until the stars drop from their orbits and the world is lost into darkness. Our love is eternal, a force unyielding that’s beyond either boundaries or time.”

Their parting embrace becomes a parting glance; they slip away into the shadows. The first light of dawn bathes the forest with golden promises of fertility.

Despite knowing that their love is a brief thing, which time will snuff out, they cling to each other in life and love, believing that with each other they have found something timeless to cherish regardless of change or mortal nature.

The higher the sun rose in the sky, coloring the world below with its warm glow, the wider Amelia smiled, her eyes closed.

And at that moment, she knew that no matter what lay ahead, no matter how many centuries passed, their love would live on as a beacon of hope in an age consumed by darkness.
