[Tutorial] How to buy DRT on HitBTC
So you want to buy DRT but don’t have much experience with HitBTC and are not sure where to start? Here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to purchase DRT easily on the main exchange HitBTC. Here we go!
To begin, follow this link to go to HitBTC.com:

Click on ‘Register’ in the top right-hand corner of the home page:
Enter your email address and a password of your choice, check the captcha to prove you’re not a robot then click ‘Register’. You will get a confirmation message asking you to confirm your email address.
Once your email address is confirmed, login to your HitBTC account and you will arrive on your dashboard. It might look different on your computer, just switch between night and day mode in the top right-hand corner:
As you can see, the default trading pair on HitBTC is the LTC/BTC and that’s not what we want, we want the ETH/DRT pair.
To do that, select the ETH thumbnail in the ‘Instruments’ section, type in DRT in the search bar then click on DRT. Now your dashboard shows the DRT/ETH chart, the chart let’s you see the evolution of the price of the DRT over 1 day by default (24h prior to the current time) but you can also choose to view it over 1 week, 1 month or 30 minutes if you’d like. You now also have the option to buy and sell DRT:
Before you can actually buy DRT you need to deposit ETH onto your HitBTC account. Hit ‘Deposit’ in the top right-hand corner, then choose ETH. HitBTC will generate a wallet address where you’ll be able to transfer you ETH from another wallet. Click ‘copy’ to copy this address to your clipboard:
Now go to your ETH wallet and paste this address so that the exchange knows where to transfer your currency.
If you bought ETH using Kraken, log in to your account and go to ‘funding’, ‘withdraw’ and choose ETH. Then click on ‘add address’:
Give a description to this address, for example ‘HitBTC wallet’, then paste the wallet address you previously copied from HitBTC in the field ‘Ether address’. Click on ‘Save address’:
Once this is done, enter the amount of ETH you wish to transfer to HitBTC (the fee to do this is indicated in ETH), then validate the transfer and wait for the ETH to appear in your HitBTC funds, this may take from 30 min to several hours.
If you bought ETH from Coinbase, log in to your account, then go to ‘Accounts’ and click on ‘send’ below your ETH wallet.
A pop up window will appear. In the field ‘Recipient’, paste the wallet address you previously copied from HitBTC and enter the amount of ETH you wish to transfer to HitBTC (a network fee will be applied, it might be higher than what you can see in the capture below). Click ‘Continue’.
You’re done! You just have to wait between 30 min to several hours for your transaction to go through.
You have added funds to your HitBTC account, you now need to transfer it from your ‘Main Account’ to you ‘Trading Account’. To do so, go to the ‘Deposit’ section of HitBTC, choose ETH and click on the little arrow between ‘Main Account’ and ‘Trading Account’. Enter the amount of ETH you wish to transfer onto you trading account, it corresponds to the amount of ETH you will be able to trade on the platform (you don’t have to transfer the whole amount). This operation should execute quickly and you should soon see the amount you transfered appear in the ‘trading account’ column:
Now that you have ETH available on your HitBTC account, you can actually buy DRT! Go back to your dashboard (exchange thumbnail in the top left-hand corner) then go to the ‘Buy DRT’ section. You have two options:
- Option #1 — Buy DRT immediately at Market Price: You will buy DRT at the current market price when you hit ‘Buy Market’, it is the fastest and easiest way to get DRT.
- To buy at market price, go to the ‘Buy DRT’ session, enter the amount of DRT you wish to buy in the ‘Amount’ field (here I entered 1000 DRT as an example but you can choose any amount divisible by 10). Your total will be automatically calculated, so here it is 1000 x 0.00010 ETH (current market price at the time the tutorial was made).
- Hit ‘Buy Market’ and your order will immediately go through. Congrats, you now own the amount of DRT you entered!
- Option #2 — Buy DRT at a stop-price you set: Say the DRT is currently selling at 0.00010 ETH but you only want to buy it when it is at 0.00008 ETH, that’s when stop-limits come into play. Your order will be placed in a kind of dormant state and will only be executed when the price of the DRT reaches your stop-price. This way, you will only buy DRT at the price you have set. However it can take from 2 sec to days or months for the market price to reach your stop-price depending on the difference between your stop-price and the current market price and also market fluctuations.
- To buy with a stop-price, go to the ‘Buy DRT’ section and check the box ‘Stop’. Enter the desired amount of DRT you want to buy (as long as it’s divisible by 10), in the example I entered 1000.
- Now it’s time to choose you stop-price, have a look at the DRT/ETH chart in the top left-hand corner of your dashboard and use you good judgement to decide at which price you want to buy DRT. Here I chose to buy it at 0.00008ETH which was lower than the current market price of 0.00010ETH.
- The amount you pay in ETH is automatically calculated. Now click on ‘Buy Stop’. Your order will be placed and you will be able to see in the ‘Active Orders’ section of your dashboard. Now you just have to wait for the price of the DRT to reach you stop-price and your order will automatically be executed:
