2019 Resolution: Stop running uphill

Running up hill is hard… it makes you stronger, but does it make you smarter?

It’s the new year and time for a resolution. I took up running 2 years ago (completing the London Marathon and Great North run — twice — since then) and can speak from experience about the “joys” of running uphill.

It’s hard, painful and pointless.

The same can be said for other areas of our lives. When fundraising, we often use tools that are hard to use. Direct debit forms being a great example.

We’re used to making payments in just a few seconds. Charitable giving should be no different. I believe giving by text is one of the simplest, most convenient way for people to donate: nearly everyone has a mobile device and can send a simple text message in just a few seconds.

Text-to-give technology is a simple, no frills method of fundraising. It’s nothing new, but is constantly improving. At Donr, we offer a higher-than-average maximum price-point of £20 via our Text Giving service, as well as offering users the chance to select their own from-the-dictionary keyword.

We also work closely with a number of charities to come up with novel ideas to boost their fundraising and engage supporters better.

So… stop trying to run uphill by using complex fundraising options. Focusing on a simple donation option — such as Text Giving — can increase the number of people giving to your cause.

Happy New Year!
