Saying thank you is a small, but powerful gesture. On Monday 19th of November, umbrella organisations in the charity sector want charities to thank their supporters and share the difference they’ve made using #YouMadeItHappen.
At Donr, we’re always trying to find new and innovative ways to help our charity partners show their supporters the impact their work has had — how many lives you’ve changed, animals you’ve saved and environments you’ve protected. It’s no easy task; it’s a subtle balance between statistics and a genuine thank you to your supporters. No matter the size of your charity, your impact matters. But how do you amplify the impact you and your supporters have made?
Well, on the 19th of November the NCVO, CharityComms, Small Charities Coalition, FSI, the Institute of Fundraising and Acevo are urging charities to use #YouMadeItHappen across their social media channels to thank supporters and raise awareness of the impact of their charity.
This is #YouMadeItHappen’s first year and we think it’s a fantastic use of social media. The more charities that take part, the more likely the hashtag will trend. It’s a great opportunity to reach new people who might have never heard of your work before.
Before you immediately mutter under your breath that there’s no way you can add another item to your to-do list and shut this window, you should know that there is no massive prep work whatsoever. To get involved, all you have to do is use the hashtag on the 19th of November and let people know about your work.
We know that when you look back on this year, and subsequently start planning for the next one, you’re hoping to do more; to make an even bigger change. Whilst there’s no doubt in our minds that the UK’s charity sector will achieve even more in 2019, we think that dedicating a day in November to celebrate what you and your supporters have achieved is brilliant — especially as we all get busier in the lead up to Christmas and New Year. It’ll be a simple yet great reminder that, when we support each other, we really can make it happen.
