There’s a viral TikTok video that’s been circulating the internet recently, and it’s about moms. This TikTok said, and we quote, “have you ever wondered why moms are so tired? It’s not because they need a nap; it’s because all day, every day, they have a running to-do list in their heads.” No truer statement could have been said.

Being a mom is one of the most rewarding jobs on the planet, but it’s also one of the most challenging! Moms are always busy, always moving, and never relaxing, simply because we can’t afford to slow down. The minute that we slow down, everything piles up, and the next thing we know, we’ve sent our kids off to school with a half-eaten sandwich for lunch.

So how do we do it? How do we make time for ourselves while still prioritizing our kiddos?

Schedule off some “me time”

One of the hardest things to wrap your head around as a mom is that you matter too. The minute that you become a mom, you get so used to looking after someone else that you forget to look after yourself. But you matter too, and it’s important that you make time for yourself because the happier you are, the happier your home and children will be.

Your “me time” doesn’t have to be alone; it can be with friends, family, coworkers, etc. Just make some time daily, weekly, or monthly, to do the activities that you enjoy without your mini you.

Set intentions and priorities

It’s so easy to get lost in the daily flow of things when you have no intentions for your days or weeks. Setting intentions can help you slow down and prioritize the things that matter to you. If your goal is to take care of yourself more, then your priority should be to schedule some me time once a week. Forget the unvacuumed carpet and the dirty laundry, you will have plenty of time to get to it another day.

Enjoy a treat that’s just for you

Find yourself a special treat that’s just for you and that can help you destress after a long day. It can be something as simple as eating a piece of chocolate or going on a scenic walk alone.

We get how hectic life can get, especially with kids, and we want you to know that it’s okay to look after yourself. Moms need a break too, especially from the never-ending to-do list!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. 🤗
