Many social media trends have come and go throughout the years. Different challenges and games have swept the nation and been an amusing part of joining social media. One social media platform has really taken off in the past year or so, and that app is called TikTok.
TikTok is a social media app that allows for 15 second to 1 minute videos that can consist of whatever your heart desires. Videos range from comedy bits, to dance trends, to storytimes. Some videos even carry on through two or three videos in order to put everything the video consists of on the app.
Through the app, not only have people connected with different ways to find fun in their day, but the people with the best content have become public figures in today’s society.
Charli D’Amelio is one girl who became famous through TikTok. She is a dancer and posts herself doing dances she either created or found through other users to her profile. D’Amelio is only 16 years old and is already having major success. She has 52.5 million followers on the app and has even done television interviews for The Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon and LIVE Kelly and Ryan.
Addison Rae is another girl who rose to fame on TikTok. Before her fame, she was a student at Louisiana State University. Once she joined the app and began to gain a following, she moved out to California and continued her TikTok career there. As of now, Addison has 38 million followers on the app and the count continues to rise.
These girls put hard work into making content that people want to watch, and that shows from the number of likes and followers they have gained throughout their time on the platform. Good content and following interesting trends is what made these girls so interesting to watch.
The app brings people together in a way that not every single app has been able to do. Instagram is about looking as if you live the perfect life, even if you don’t. Snapchat is about looking like you’re having fun, even when there isn’t anywhere fun to be. TikTok has created a place where kids can be themselves through creative outlets and find people who enjoy the same things they do.
