We have exciting news: door2door has received the 2017 European Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award.

Frost & Sullivan, a leading market research company based in Mountain View, California, analyzed all relevant market players and came to the following conclusion:

“door2door’s profound understanding of mobility market needs, its passion to introduce advanced transport solutions, and its capacity to manage Big Data and draw specific insights are the key drivers in its remarkable progression. With strategic business models and clear goals for the long term, door2door is expected to lead the way by redefining the future of the mobility market. Acknowledging its vision and exemplary implementation, Frost & Sullivan is pleased to present door2door with the 2017 European Competitive Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award.”

According to Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practice Research, door2door has differentiated itself through several key aspects:

  • Public sector technology: door2door’s mobility platform is designed to address the need of public transport operators and cities to introduce on-demand services. It enables them for the first time, to run on-demand services such as ridesharing independently and as an integral part of their public transit infrastructure.
  • Comprehensive services: The components of the platform offer all the tools to implement and run rideshare services and integrate them into the public transport network seamlessly. In addition, the platform includes a data-analytics software that identifies over- and undersupplied areas. This allows public transport companies to determine where to implement rideshare services in order to eliminate inefficiencies within a network.
  • High-Performance technology: door2door’s technology allows to operate ‘Free Floating Ridesharing’, a fleet running without static routes or fixed stops. door2door has developed the software based on advances in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Price: With door2door’s mobility solution, cities are now able to offer on-demand rideshare services at a price similar to a public transport ticket and significantly lower than a taxi. This ensures that the services are accessible to everyone.

We enable cities and public transport companies to introduce and to operate their own on-demand solutions as part of their existing public transport network. Public transport’s rigid schedules and fixed bus routes — in most cases running at a loss — will soon be history. Public transport operators are replacing this old system step by step with a highly dynamic, demand-based shuttle system — soon even with autonomous shuttles — that is financially sustainable for a city .

The Lisbon-Study conducted by the OECD has shown how a flexible, on-demand based shuttle-system is able to significantly reduce the number of private vehicles on the street resulting in less congestion and lower emissions while freeing up space for housing and green areas. Mayors and public transport operators around the world are fully aware of this study and are looking for partners like door2door to help them implement such systems in a timely manner. We have fully designed our mobility platform to address those needs and support their digital transformation.

In September 2017, the city of Duisburg with its public transport operator — the Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft AG (DVG) — has introduced myBUS — running on door2door’s mobility platform. It is the first on-demand rideshare service as part of their public transport network. More cities will follow soon — we will keep you posted!

We are honored to have received this award and proud to get recognition for the work we have done and will continue to do here at door2door.
