Teaming Up With NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and When We All Vote on #DashToThePolls
According to a 2020 Harvard Youth Poll*, 63% of Americans age 18–29 say they will “definitely be voting” in the November election, marking a substantial increase from 2016 and 2018 and putting youth turnout in November on track to match or exceed the 2008 election. DoorDash wants to make sure young voters can translate that enthusiasm into casting their ballot. To do so, we are partnering with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and When We All Vote to provide resources and tools on our platforms and through a virtual conversation that will help fans, customers, and dashers get to the polls this election through a voting campaign titled #DashToThePolls.
In mid-August, DoorDash announced its first-ever partnership with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and committed to working together to design local initiatives that accelerate shared efforts to empower communities in need across the United States. #DashToThePolls is kicking off this morning with an Instagram Live session where Bubba and moderator Crystal Carson, Vice President of Culture & Comms for When We All Vote, will discuss the importance of voting and educate young adults on the resources and tools that are available to them to help answer common questions like where to vote, how to locate polling locations, who’s on their local ballots, and much more. DoorDash is inviting Dashers voting for the first time to join the conversion. The conversation will be available to tune in on Bubba Wallace’s Instagram today Friday, 10/23 at 11:30 AM ET.
Bubba is using his platform and voice to encourage voters to get out the vote both off and on the track. Two days prior to the election at the Martinsville race on November 1st, a new “VOTE” and “#DashToThePolls” paint scheme will adorn the №43 DoorDash Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE at the Martinsville (Va.) Speedway to encourage Bubba’s fans and followers to get out and vote.
DoorDash is also showing up to make sure the food that’s powering citizens reflects the diversity of cuisines and cultures that uniquely make up America. DoorDash is working with When We All Vote and local diverse food merchants in cities across the country to show up to activation locations with free local food to deliver diversity through highlighting the immigrant flavors that make up our communities. The nonpartisan effort will be available to anyone, regardless of political party or beliefs, and is intended to pay tribute to all of America’s flavors and celebrate the richness that our nation’s diversity brings to our nation’s food. Starting next week, DoorDash will serve thousands of meals across the country to ensure citizens and poll workers can try all the flavors that make up America in Miami, Lansing, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Raleigh, and Charlotte.
Plus, DoorDash will provide $0 delivery fees** on all orders with a $15 minimum placed on election day, Tuesday, November 3, nationwide with promo code “VOTE” so that more Americans can experience and celebrate the diverse flavors of our country. For DashPass subscribers that already benefit from $0 delivery fees on orders over $12, DoorDash is providing 10% off***, up to $5, orders with a $12 minimum placed on election day, Tuesday, November 3 with DPVOTE.
DoorDash is also partnering with When We All Vote to provide voting resources and materials to customers and Dashers on the DoorDash platform and through a dedicated voter resources hub.
