For this month’s Dosh Destination Guide, we’re heading to dazzling Denver, CO, one of the USA’s “it” cities! With 300 days of sunshine, a thriving cultural scene and natural beauty aplenty, it’s no shock that many consider Denver a must-see. With milder temperatures and a fall calendar filled with can’t-miss events, it’s the perfect stop for a getaway this season. Sit back, relax, and get to know this beautiful city.

What to do:

· Clyfford Still Museum: Among the first generation of abstract expressionists to develop a new, powerful approach to painting in the years immediately following World War II, Clyfford Still ended his relationship with commercial galleries. Thus, 95 percent of the artist’s collection is on view at this museum, making its collection the most intact body of work by any major artist from any century.

· Fifty-Two 80’s: If you’re looking for a souvenir that says, “totally tubular!” then look no further than Fifty-Two 80’s, a blast from the past destination. Filled with pop culture, collectables, toys, and memorabilia from the 1980’s, this shop allows you to cuddle with a vintage cookie monster, play your favorite Atari game, or reunite with your long-lost Care Bears lunchbox. Plus, the store also boasts the biggest collection of vintage Denver Broncos memorabilia for your personal stash.

· Day trip to St. Mary’s Glacier in Idaho Springs: Channel your inner outdoorsman with a one-hour trip to nearby Idaho Springs and this 1.9 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail. Bask in the beauty of the Colorado Rockies while ascending through beautiful forests to reach panoramic views.

Places to Eat/Drink (and get 5% cash back while doing it):

· Appaloosa Grill: Nestled in downtown Denver’s business district, Appaloosa Grill was originally the vision of former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. With a rustic menu that boasts steakhouse classics and updated modern takes like crispy pig ears and trout mousse, there’s something for everyone in your party.

· Leven Deli: Don’t expect your traditional deli fare at this establishment. One-part Jewish deli, one-part Mediterranean restaurant, Leven Deli offers a new take on old world classics. Those in search of deli classics won’t be disappointed by the pastrami reuben, while the fattoush and golden beet hummus will satisfy those seeking a more Mediterranean flair.

· Brass Tacks: Take a load off after a long day of tourist fun with some good old-fashioned cocktails and bar grub at Brass Tacks. Housed in a building completed in 1863, it served as one of the city’s first saloons as shown on the earliest notated map of Denver. Over 150 years after its original construction, visitors can enjoy a taste of historic Denver while they sip classic cocktails and great food, perhaps being greeted by one of the peaceful ghosts believed to reside onsite.

Where to stay:

Christkindl Market guests can find delicious cuisine, festive German drinks, handmade jewelry, toys, clothing, gifts and of course, live entertainment and dancing.

In its 28th year, Denver Zoo Lights invites guests to experience more than 70 acres illuminated with life.
