🚀 Dot HQ Development Report — February 2021
It’s February, that’s right, the shortest month of the year! This month we’ve pushed ourselves here at Dot HQ to work even harder to see major progress in multiple aspects of the Dot brand. So we have loads of things in-store to show you 😎!
300 Discord Members
This month was also the month our Discord server hit 300 members 🥳! This wouldn’t have been possible without readers and active enthusiasts like you. So on behalf of everyone at Dot HQ, we’d like to take this moment to show our gratitude and say a big thank you for helping us reach this milestone.
Progressive Web Apps
Starting with Firefox 85, Mozilla discontinued the development of the modern technology allowing websites to be upgraded into stand-alone apps on mobile and desktop devices. However, don’t fret just yet, Dot Browser will reintroduce support for PWAs.
Adblocker
You saw that right! We’ve been working hard to get the adblocker up and running for the browser’s initial release. So far, we’re able to block more ads (on estimate) than Firefox’s built-in shields. Which is pretty good, but there are loads of room for improvement.
New Site
We’ve been experimenting and building a new website to showcase Dot Browser as well as other products and services also offered by us. The site is still a work-in-progress, so not everything is working as expected.
Windows Builds
We have made some big strides in our Windows builds for Dot Browser. Our good friend and moderator for the Dot Community Discord, Dojnaz, recently decided out of the goodness of his heart to fund a Windows build machine for us.
We are very greatful that Dojnaz has given us this amazing machine to build Dot Browser for Windows.
Accounts Hub
We have started development on the Dot ID Accounts Hub, the central place to make changes to your Dot ID (so account settings).
