The best comparison would be the previous League, but teams definitely tried more heroes than a LAN event. And it is shown in the bump around 30% and 50%.
Most Picked Heroes
Puck is the best mid in the patch, 96% contest rate is no joke. It was strong in the whole 7.28 patch, even after a few nerfs, it is still great and counters multiple other mid heroes, like the popular Void Spirit.
Death Prophet pops out as a strong pos 5 support, despite the weaker side of crowd control, her 900 range and 425 radius silence is still strong at mid game. She also works as a strong pusher and teamfighter with very few items. The high movement speed also helped a lot to her support role.
The stats of Lion are single heavily boosted by Kaka, he is so good on it, but in fact it is also a great counter of all the mobile heroes, like the spirit brothers.
Most Banned Heroes
Core Io is back, and people are terrified. The original level 15 spike was nerfed after the God level play by Ana. But the damage buff of Spirits and the spell damage amplification of Overcharge in 7.28 makes Io a lot stronger damage-wise. The longer average game time also helps it to hit the timing.
A fun fact is that core Io have over 90% winrate and support Io have only 14% winrate.
Timbersaw is a great pick, Flamethrower from shards helped his scaling issue, he is one of the best user of Eternal Shroud too.
Alchemist is banned a lot, but he is quite weak as a pos 1/2 core, people just melt him down quickly even with lots of farm, and his damage/gold efficiency is crazily low. But some teams can play him as a pos 3 and farm scepter for teammates, he is really going to the support path Icefrog tried so hard to introduce.
Similar to Lion and Shadow Shaman, Beastmaster is a great pick for single target control with Primal Roar. He is also a natural user of Necronomicon providing lots of territory and vision control with his Hawk.
Highest Win Rate Heroes (pick ≥ 5 )
Many of the heroes in this list are situational picks, especially those are always last picked.
Elder Titan is heavily used by Y` of PSG.LGD, he is simply a great support that can follow up all the mobile cores from a long distance. He is also one of the lowest item demanding hero.
Shadow Shaman is the more effective version of Lion, even more control to catch mobile heroes, we have also see multiple times that he counter split push.
Terrorblade become more viable with the scepter upgrade, he doesn’t have to commit the huge cooldown Metamorphosis for small fight.
Lowest Win Rate Heroes (pick ≥ 5 )
It is fun to see Gyrocopter is played as support, but this is not the reason of his low win rate, both core and support Gyrocopter have the same 20% win rate.
With a slower meta, Phantom Assassin is hard to win the game before the enemy carry gets a Monkey King Bar.
Highest Pick Rate Increase
This list is actually showing the different meta in different regional leagues, the pick rate is lower throughout multiple leagues, but when it comes to LAN, the best team with the best pick will greatly increase the pick rate.
Highest Pick Rate Decrease
This list shows how 7.28c patch hits on the heroes, especially Earthshaker, Batrider and Nyx Assassin.
Peak Hero Performance
High K+AD heroes are always picked last, being protected by the picks they are hard to be killed.
Although most Io is played as core, but it still does huge healing with great damage, no wonder it is nerfed directly in 7.29. Another point is that overall healing stats is so much lower than other majors, the nerf on healing is hard.
Faction
We can see that Radiant has a slight advantage, but it can be perfectly balanced out by last pick. It was such a great map balance.
