7 Last Minute Tactics for Giving Tuesday

If you haven’t prepared for Giving Tuesday just yet and are scrambling to work through an effective fundraising strategy, here are a few tactics you can use to fully take advantage of the biggest philanthropic event of the year.

1. Set up a Facebook Fundraiser

The easiest one and by far the most impactful, quick, last-minute Giving Tuesday tactic you could do is create a Facebook Fundraiser for your nonprofit. Starting 8:00am EST on Tuesday, November 30th, Facebook will match up to $8 million in donations. Creating a Facebook Fundraiser is simple, you can easily invite your entire network, and you won’t have to pay any fees if you’re a 501(c)(3).

If you haven’t planned at all for Giving Tuesday, then making a Facebook Fundraiser could be a quick and easy way in getting some funding for your nonprofit.

2. Create a Venmo + Instagram Fundraiser

If you don’t have a Facebook account, then a simple alternative could be creating a Venmo and Instagram fundraiser. Have a goal in mind and post on your story that you’re fundraising via Venmo for your nonprofit.

Many people have anywhere between $5-$25 dollars in their Venmo balance that they keep for extended periods of time, so for many people, Giving Tuesday becomes a time where they can empty out their Venmo balance.

Creating multiple stories throughout the day with updates on fundraising progress can be an easy way to keep your immediate network engaged and incentivize them to donate.

3. Create an Instagram Live Fundraiser

If you’re thinking of doing a Venmo and Instagram fundraiser, think about pairing that with an Instagram Live fundraiser. Instagram Live gives you the opportunity to talk to your immediate network about your nonprofit, its programs, and how it’s working to solve the issue it was created for.

For many donors, it’s easier to give a donation once an actual connection is made, and starting a livestream on Instagram goes farther than simply posting something on your story.

4. Set up a Fundraiser with .NGO

.NGO is the financial technology platform for nonprofits. With .NGO you can create a donation form, host it on your website, and immediately fundraise for your nonprofit.

With .NGO you don’t have to rely on a secondary website to fundraise and can do so on your existing website instead. Additionally, with our platform you’re able to access and spend your funds faster than other platforms due to our embedded debit card and banking features.

5. Reconnect with Past Donors

Giving Tuesday is the best time to reconnect with past donors. Many donors are looking to donate with the coming end of the year or are most likely planning to donate during Giving Tuesday.

If you have the contact information (email address or phone number) of your previous donors, then sending them an email or text message of any updates on the progress of your nonprofits is a good start to getting past donors to donate again.

6. Create a new Giving Circle from Recurring Donors

If you already have a strong network of recurring donors, then the next step is to convince them to create a giving circle to multiply their impact. Giving circles are typically created among a group of individuals to maximize their impact as a collective.

Your recurring donors could become new advocates for your nonprofit and get other people to join in on the giving.

7. Join a Collective Corporate Match

Another way to maximize your donations is to create a collective corporate match. Typically companies have yearly maximums for how much they will match an employee’s donation, but oftentimes a single employee may not have enough money available to them to maximize how much their company is willing to match the donation.

An easy way to maximize a corporate match program would be to target a donor that is an employee of a company with a matching program and have them collect donations from their network to maximize the corporation’s maximum match amount.
