■Background to the adoption of “LINE Blockchain” and future development
The “LINE Blockchain” is a blockchain developed by LINE.
By managing and linking the tokens issued on the “LINE Blockchain” with the “LINE BITMAX Wallet”, a digital asset management wallet linked to LINE accounts, it will be possible to build services specifically for the LINE user base.
The background to the adoption of “LINE Blockchain” in this project is to improve the UX of the service using NFT.
In the case of many blockchain-related applications, the wallet installation process is currently a very big hurdle for users.
While NFT have been gaining momentum in recent years, the main target users for Japanese content holders targeting the mass market are those who are not familiar with cryptocurrency wallets, etc. We believe that improving the UX will be a major stepping stone to expanding the NFT market.
In contrast, the following features of “LINE Blockchain” are expected to improve the NFT service in various ways.
User authentication (Key management)
In many cases, the handling of NFT is restricted by custody regulations (*2), and users are required to manage their own private keys (*3).
With “LINE Blockchain”, users don’t need to manage their own private keys, and the connection of LINE login and LINE BITMAX Wallet will provide a UX similar to the authentication of the web services that users usually use.
No Gas burden for users
Normally, with the Ethereum blockchain, users are required to pay for the gas when transferring NFTs. In the case of “LINE Blockchain”, the service operator will bear the cost, and the UX will be simpler.
NFT Marketplace
The NFT marketplace using the “LINE Blockchain” is currently under construction, and it will be possible to sell and buy NFTs in the future. It is also expected to become easier to exchange NFTs using LINE’s talk function, and the secondary distribution of NFTs using the application used by approximately 88 million people is expected to become more active.
Future prospects
The “LINE Blockchain Developers” API library for the Go programming language, which has been developed by double jump.tokyo in advance, is now available as open source. This library will simplify the HTTP configuration and signature process for accessing the “LINE Blockchain Developers” API, and enable rapid development.
