It was only a short time ago that Nintendo announced that it would be bundling 30 of the Nintendo Entertainment System’s finest games into a single, palm-sized console, the NES Classic. Save for a limited stock supply, along with a few minor hardware issues, the miniature console was incredibly well-received, no doubt sparking inspiration for Nintendo’s latest miniature console development.

Nintendo announced earlier today that it would soon be releasing the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic, featuring a compilation of 21 original games that are sure to give nostalgia-seekers more than a few reasons to smile.

The mini-console is set to feature several critically acclaimed titles such as Earthbound, Secret of Mana, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It’ll also include Star Fox 2, the never-before-released sequel to the original Star Fox (known as Starwing in Australia). Those looking to get a better understanding of why the game was cancelled back in 1995 should check out Polygon’s article on the matter.

For a complete idea of what to expect, check out the SNES Classic’s full lineup below:

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

In similar fashion to its NES predecessor, the SNES Classic will feature a HDMI cable, charging cable, and two controllers. The controller cables will also be 1.5 metres long, as reported by Kotaku, which is around 60cm longer than the widely-criticised NES Classic controller.

In a press release, Nintendo was unable to confirm whether or not the miniature console would be available after 2017, stating that the company currently has “nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year.”

The SNES Classic is scheduled to release in Australia on September 30 for $119.95, and is currently available for preorder.
