There are so many things wrong with the White House activities today, it is hard to know where to begin. However, this picture says everything that anyone really needs to know. The Russian government is officially snarking about dismissal of the FBI director. It was bad enough that the foreign minister made an inappropriate remark to a reporter. Now, Russia’s official Twitter accounts are promulgating this:

If there was any question about Russia’s influence over the White House before, there ought to be no question whatsoever now. On what basis could any Senator or member of Congress let this go without action?

Let’s recap:

  • President Trump fired the person leading the investigation into Russian interference with our election yesterday, citing reasons that are impossible to be truthful for many reasons, including that they directly contradict the president’s own prior statements.
  • Today he welcomed the Russian foreign minister and the Russian ambassador to the White House. The only member of the press allowed into the rooms was a photographer from Tass. No U.S. reporters were allowed — into a White House meeting. That’s why the US media is crediting the Russian Foreign Ministry for the images published.
  • We are now hearing that Comey had asked for additional budget because the Russian interference investigation is so large. There is at least the appearance that the White House axed Comey once Trump and his inner circle realized how big the Russia investigation was going to be.
  • And there are GOP leaders such as Sen. Mitch McConnell still defending the president.

You can support the president and still question what is going on here. Party is not more important than country.
