Rubbish morning, today. But yesterday? Man, that was great.

Nothing big happened.

But small moments can reap big beauty.

Early morning, parked up on the multi-storey and took my usual walk.

Look up, overcast skies. Look ahead, workplace.

And then, it was great. For the first time in probably a year I looked at the walls.

Down the tiled walkway you can find signs, super signs lovingly made and presented to pay homage to Leeds’ musical siblings.

Then, I went to work.

I left chuffed.

I had the pleasure of Internal Audit. Not the work, the team.

The people.

These guys do incredible, selfless fund-raising for charity, cancer charities in particular.

For Jane. The person.

But it goes much further than that. I left after a quick chat with the ledger legends promising to do the Leeds Abbey Dash later this year. That after a long, long hiatus from the running-thing.

For a bone-idle fop like oneself, that illustrates these marvels’ marvellousness.

Oh, and the floods of emails that afternoon. Bursting!

After that, got to school to pick the kids up.

I was late. No matter. They wanted to rave about the girls.

Got home — Down syndrome, reference finally — to read Martha’s daily diary.

‘She has been on fire all week.’

Seven words. Magnificent!

And here’s the point. If you focus on the bland, suffocating smelly stuff you will miss the brilliance that sometimes gets sidelined.

Walk down a street, look ahead, look up, look sideways.

It’s amazing what great things you get.
