Went to a swell party
Fine people, location + food… future feels fab
Went to a swell party today.
A children’s party — happy birthday Albert — that was wonderful for the folk, food and setting.
My two girls had a great time for different reasons.
The eldest was in the thick of it and dug deep on joy.
Martha, who just happens to have Down syndrome, was more reserved which is notable. She normally is in the thick of it.
And then it struck me, as we snuggled up together on a very comfy sofa following a burst of trampoline bouncing.
Martha is darn independent.
Martha is…
comfortable in her own company, not needy
knows what she wants
doesn’t need the limelight or patronage of others
Martha may only be six, but she’s going to bust my fears and live an independent life, I’m sure.
And that’s a rather uplifting thought to finish the weekend with.
That’s it!
Not writing enough. I’m on it.
I’ve been working on visuals, which you can see via marktravisinfo.com.
Fancy a word regards Down syndrome media?
Lots of ways to get hold of me.
