Getting the most from the freedom of retirement
Letter From your Future Self
Take a few deep breaths. Focus. Think about yourself now, and for a moment imagine you are able to tell yourself of 10-years ago about the decade your prior self is approaching. Be the biggest supporter, best mentor, most awesome advocate to your younger self while you think of what you’d tell younger you about the journey from then to now. With compassion, think of what you’d want your younger self to know about his or her next ten years. This is a brief imagining, to give yourself perspective for the exercise:
Fast forward to your future self, 10 years from now. This is ten years from now, having recalibrated at this crossroads towards a life well-imagined. What do you say about the last ten years?
What advice do you have? If you had to find a name that describes who you are over the next ten years, what would it be? What is home like? What do you see, taste, smell, feel and hear? What are you doing, and what changes have you seen in yourself?
