Downtown NEWS

Downtown Miami is one of the country’s fastest-growing urban centers, accounting for nearly 100 thousand residents. The downtown proper — the Central Business District and the Arts and the Park West neighborhood — represents one-third of this exclusive niche market.

Downtown NEWS focuses exclusively on the downtown proper. The average downtown resident is college-educated, and, according to the Downtown Development Authority, commands an income of over $110,000.

Downtown NEWS, the print-edition, reaches 7,500 apartments, and the online-edition over 5,000 residents.

Because Downtown NEWS is published by the DNA, and because the content is relevant and timely to all residents, it is the only publication distributed within member-buildings — even deliver to each apartment.

Downtown NEWS is published by DASS for the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA). The DNA has been promoting and improving the quality of life, common good and general welfare of downtown residents and businesses since 2013.

In addition to DNA-Member condominiums, Downtown NEWS is strategically distributed through partner institutions such as HistoryMiami, Miami Dade Public Library, the Government Center, Books & Books, Brightline/Virgin Trains, cafes, and other cultural locales.

Downtown NEWS forges a sense of community. Downtown News organized a Media Salon to educate media representatives about Downtown issues. The panel included representatives from Telemundo/NBC, Miami New Times, The New Tropic, and Miami Herald.

DASS has created cultural and social events in downtown Miami to foster a sense of neighborhood community. Our Arts and Science salons range from psychology to the media’s coverage of local communities, from urban development and affordable housing to climate resilience. We use for campus downtown iconic venues, Miami Dade College, the historic Olympia Theater, book stores, museums, private buildings.

DASS created Downtown News on April 2018 and built it into the digital/print publication of record for downtown residents. We built a group of professionals in various fields, citizen journalists, to provide analysis, commentary and news on subjects ranging from municipal politics to street lights, from park management and noise abatement to schools and cultural offerings.
