The Miami Film Festival offers a mix of in-person and virtual screenings and events! While the Opening Night Screening of The Good Boss is SOLD OUT, there is still space to join the Opening Night Walter Mercado Extravaganza Party. And be sure to buy your tickets to other popular screenings before they sell out too!

Ways to Attend the Festival

In Person

Our In-Person films are screening at MDC’s Tower Theater Miami, Silverspot Cinema, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts (Knight Concert Hall), and more. Learn more about the venues and see the schedule.

When selecting films, remember to allow yourself enough time to travel between the venues. At 15 minutes to show-time, empty seats may be sold to the ‘rush line.’ On the day of the screening, tickets are for sale at all of the venues and online, subject to availability. The theatre box offices open 1 hour before the first screening of the day and closes 30 minutes after the last screening. If day-of-show tickets are no longer available, you can always try the Rush Line!

Online

Virtual ticket holders: you’re not limited to your computer screen or mobile device. Go bigger and watch this year’s films on Apple TV, Roku, or Android TV via The Eventive App. Learn how and browse the virtual festival.

Virtual screenings will expire at the end of their availability period of 72 hours (some exceptions apply). The film may no longer be accessed 72 hours after it becomes available, so make sure you watch your films before their windows close.

More Tips

All films screen only on select dates, so start planning out your schedule for in-theater and virtual screening times and reserve your tickets before they run out. Don’t forget to vote! Click the link under the film image on the Eventive site to cast your vote and let us know what you thought of the film.

And whether you’re attending in-person or joining the festivities from home, grab that popcorn and gear up for another unforgettable Festival experience!

KNIGHT HEROES: FROM SHORT FORM TO THE STRATOSPHERE (FREE Event!)

The image above is a screenshot from a short film by Shal Ngo.

This year’s Knight Heroes panel brings together experts from the industry to provide a behind-the-curtain peek at how many filmmakers have parlayed their stellar short films into spectacular streaming careers.

What do content executives look for in pitches and previous work (both scripted and non-fiction)? Kate Bustamante from the Original Documentaries & Limited Series development team at Hulu and Nick Borenstein, Head of Scripted for Topic, will be on hand to discuss how short films can act as launchpads — expanding into features, unexpected new media opportunities, or as unforgettable introductions that lead to six or seven figure series deals. Panelists will give emerging filmmakers an inside look at how the development process runs at the highest level and share highlights and successes from their work on this side of the creative process.

Also hear from award-winning filmmaker Shal Ngo, whose horror short CONTROL was acquired by Hulu. Ngo recently wrapped production on The Park, a dystopian drama series co-produced by Topic, and will present a candid case study of the series’ journey from conception to hitting your screens and streams, as well as other failures and triumphs throughout his artistic career.

Moderated by Caitlin Burke and Merrill Sterritt, co-directors of IF/Then Shorts, the Knight Heroes panel discusses the variety of factors that translate creative ideas into ultimate greenlight.
