In this tutorial, we will see how we can render orthographic drawings such as a site plan. Assuming that that the site plan is ready to use with all the context drafted in CAD, we will try to work further.

  1. Setting up the page.

Working in the Top View and printing the drawing to scale.

Site Plan

2. Rendering the view in Rhino using Octane Render.

2.1. First we should save the desired view as a “Named View”. Here we saved our view as “My Rendered Top View”. This helps to work on the same view back and forth.

2.2. Assigning Materials in Rhino.

Applying material to the Ground.

2.3.1. Using the “Environment Tab” to get the required view.

Using the Sun Panel to adjust the different times of the day and the views hence forth.

2.3.2. The color of the sky can be set as desired under the same panel.

Once the desired view has been achieved it can be saved as follows.

3. Minor adjustments can be done in Photoshop.

3.1 The site plan in Photoshop.

Over lap the site plan and the rendered view.
Adjusting the “Hues” and “Saturation” to make the view more readable and presentable.
The desired Rendered Orthographic Drawing.
