In order to be able to pursue the question of what can be productively reduced to a size that is reusable or easy to store and transport, Simex carried out extensive tests.

Customer needed to shred asphalt evenly so that it can be reused. The efficient shredding of the asphalt takes place via a drum equipped with special teeth, driven by two powerful radial piston motors. The desired grain size is determined by an interchangeable grid on the back. If a blockage occurs in the crushing direction during shredding, the drum automatically turns back three quarters of a turn before switching back to the working direction. Many years of experience in asphalt milling machines have helped Simex to develop such a machine with high productivity for this application.

Versatile possibilities: The positive results when crushing asphalt were clear as the CBA has been tested for this material for considerable amount of time. Materials on which tests have been carried out so far include asphalt, sheet rocks, bricks, glass, bonded glass such as windshields, tiles and floor panels. A fine shredding result was achieved with all types of glass and in addition, tiles and floor slabs were successfully shredded to the specified grain size of 40 mm. Shredding of sheet trock also proved to be highly productive.

The teeth consumption depends on the abrasiveness of the broken material. However, the service life of the teeth and drum is generally high.
