Dave’s Redistricting today announced the release of Community maps on DRA 2020, our free, web-based application to create, view, analyze, and share district maps for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. You can now create and draw Communities on DRA 2020 in the exact same manner as you build district maps. In addition, we have enabled Landmarks for all maps you create on DRA.

Communities are now first-class entities in DRA on par with maps. You can build them at the county, precinct and/or block level. As you build you can see and utilize population, demographic and voting data. Communities are editable, even after they have been overlaid on a map. Landmarks capture latitude and longitude, and are likewise editable. You can publish your Community, making it available to other DRA map makers. And, you can share and export DRA Community Maps.

“As we continue to listen to redistricting advocates across the country, we have come to better appreciate how front and center communities are to the citizen engagement and input process. Thus, we are thrilled to offer Community Maps and Landmarks to our users,” said Dave Bradlee, founder of Dave’s Redistricting. “Of course, we will continue to fully support importing community maps and district maps from other platforms.”

DRA 2020 is a free web app to create, view, analyze and share redistricting maps for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. DRA 2020 includes extensive election data and demographic data from the 2010 census and 2018 & 2019 Five-Year ACS estimates. Official congressional and state legislative district maps are included and can be used to start new maps, or you can create maps from scratch. DRA 2020 also includes a rich set of analytics, including measures of proportionality, competitiveness, minority representation, compactness, and splitting.
