Taiwan Dragon Boat Race Goes Paperless & Automatic
For the first time in its history, the City Cup International Dragon Boat Championships stopped sticking pieces of paper onto the scoreboard. In fact, there were no scoreboards. People used their mobile phone to look up results, as well as start lists of upcoming races.

Smooth results processing makes a smooth Dragon Boat Event
There were 128 races in this 2-days Dragon Boat Festival. Race results came in every 5 or 6 minutes. In the past, a lot of time was spent printing results and start lists of upcoming races. Runners then deliver copies to different officiating posts, and stick results and start-lists on scoreboards around the venue.
Often, before all the paper of a race can be printed, results from another race is coming. It is high pressure work for the results processing team.

“Zero Error” minimizes disputes
This time, the organizer achieved “zero error” in 128 races.
In events with semi-finals and repechage, error in one race can lead to wrong start list of many subsequent races. The advantage of publishing results instantly on everyone’s phone is that, when there is an error, people will point out immediately. Rectification can be made promptly.
More Environmental Friendly
The chairman of the organizing committee, Mr David Chu, is an enthusiastic dragon-boater. He cares a lot about details. He understands that to make a great event, every detail is important.
