Capturing Los Angeles with a Camera from a Decade Ago: Reflections on Using my Sony NEX-5T

Sony NEX-5T，這台十年前推出的APS-C無反相機，現在來用，竟然讓我找回了攝影最初的感動。

這台相機螢幕很暗，讓我常在洛杉磯的太陽底下看不清構圖；配上Kit鏡的畫質非常普通；對焦點選擇的操作很麻煩。但反而因為有這些限制，我拍出了許多喜歡的照片，進而感受到這幾年來，自己的攝影有很大的進步。

會想帶這台相機出門拍照，只有一個原因，就是體積重量非常輕巧。機身加Kit鏡不到400g，比一瓶礦泉水還輕；體積接近一罐鋁罐，很多包包都放得進去。

當然啦，要輕便，用手機最方便，但就少了快門震動的那種莊嚴儀式感。

攝影最初的感動，就是能在生活中，仔細品味、察覺那些平時忽略的美，並記錄下來。一旦找回這樣的初衷，光圈、焦段、噪點什麼的，都不用那麼在意了，不管是什麼樣的相機、手機，只要是能幫助自己記錄這些美好的器材，都是當下最棒的器材。

The Sony NEX-5T, an APS-C mirrorless camera introduced a decade ago, has surprisingly rekindled the initial excitement of photography for me.

The camera’s screen is quite dim, often making it challenging to compose shots under the scorching Los Angeles sun. Paired with the standard kit lens, the image quality is rather ordinary, and the process of selecting the focus point can be cumbersome. However, it’s precisely these limitations that led me to capture many photos I love and made me realize how much my photography skills have improved over the years.

The sole reason I’d consider taking this camera out for a photoshoot is its incredibly lightweight and compact design. The camera body with the kit lens weighs less than 400g, lighter than a bottle of mineral water, and it’s about the size of a soda can, fitting into most bags with ease.

Of course, when it comes to convenience, a smartphone is unbeatable. But it lacks that solemn sense of ceremony that comes with the shutter click.

The initial thrill of photography lies in savoring and noticing the beauty in everyday life that is often overlooked and capturing it. Once you rediscover this essence, you won’t fret too much about aperture, focal length, or noise — any tool, be it a camera or a smartphone, that helps you document these moments of beauty is the best equipment at that moment.
