Draper Venture Network member fund Dalus Capital has completed the first investment of its second fund, investing~$4 million US Dollars as sole and lead investor in Cultura Colectiva, a digital media company focused on creating high-quality content for Spanish-speaking millennials.

Captivating its audience with original articles, videos and infographics, Cultura Colectiva has reached more than 35 million monthly unique users on its page, positioning the company as the #2 digital media player in Mexico in terms of traffic merely 3 years after its founding. Additionally, via social media diffusion, Cultura Colectiva has been able to reach more than one billion monthly viewers and generate more than 700 million video plays per month.

This growth comes at an opportune time: Latin America’s media advertising spend is shifting rapidly from traditional to digital. With 20% annual growth of digital publishing spend in Latin America, advertisers are eager to find attractive online content, particularly that which caters to millennials. There are 150 million internet users across Latin America in Cultura Colectiva’s target age range (teens & early 20’s). Yet only 6% of the 50 most-visited sites in Latin America target millennials. So there is a strong opportunity for CC to grow its audience and its ad revenue, making this an easy bet for Dalus.
