2016 was a transformative year for Drawboard. As a small company with big ambitions we took on a lot. We overhauled Drawboard PDF several times under the hood and set the app up for a strong 2017.

We released Drawboard PDF PRO to give design and construction and power users the features they have been asking for, whilst also allowing the base app to be affordable and accessible.

We also released our PDF collaboration platform for design and construction - Bullclip. It’s the first cross-platform PDF app that supports pressure sensitive inking on PDFs in real time. It tackles some of the major issues in document management today such as ease of use and proper handling of markups in team environments.

The Drawboard team have been amazing. We have grown our team and love receiving the feedback about how our products are used. This feedback helps us shape our products to be solutions that address our users’ needs.

At the start of 2016, we were a small company driven by enthusiasm. We were on a mission to create the best software for our audience. By the end of 2016, our team’s enthusiasm and resolve to create awesome software has only grown stronger. Yet we learned valuable lessons along the way that put us in an even better position for 2017.

Reliable software

One of our goals for 2017 is to not only be known for awesome, easy to use software — but also the most dependable software.

In 2017 we will deliver some powerful new tools and improvements, but we are also improving our Quality Assurance processes and methods of user engagement. We take feedback seriously; reviewing our UserVoice pages and talking to customers to help build our roadmap.

Stay on the lookout for more opportunities to get more engaged in our beta programs and feedback circles.

New Features

We are bringing new additions to Drawboard PDF and PDF PRO. This includes a more extensive markup and document toolset. We will also improve access to key functionality such as bookmarks, markup histories and tool/property selection.

Microsoft and Windows 10

One of our product priorities has alway been to support the latest Windows and Microsoft technologies, and this will continue. We know that Windows 7 is still alive and kicking, but the most value for our customers and for product quality is in Windows 10.

Drawboard’s focus is to provide markup software that gives the best possible experience with touch and pen technologies. This is not possible with a legacy operating system such as Windows 7.

We see Windows 10 driving the future of replacing pen and paper, especially in the design and construction industries. Using a digital pen on a touch screen will be standard when dealing with lots of drawings and documents. Whether that’s on a Surface Pro 4, Surface Studio, an iPad or a Samsung Galaxy Note.

Solutions that seek to replace pen and paper must be able to emulate the paper experience.

We won’t be hedging our bets on Windows 7; we will deliver for the future.

Please keep the feedback and suggestions coming. 2017 is going to be bigger and better than 2016 and we can’t wait.

Thanks,

Alistair
