Melanie Good, Unit Manager at Noble Correctional Institution (NCI), was recently presented the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Employee of the Year for Community Impact Award by ODRC Director Gary Mohr.

Good is very active in organizations across the state of Ohio that raise money and awareness for our nation’s veterans. She organizes and participates in many races and walks for groups such as Team RWB, WOD for Warriors, and Old Glory Relay. She was the coordinator of the local chapter of Wear Blue, Run to Remember (which has monthly runs that honor fallen military members).

Additionally, Good is also a member of the organization “I Run 4” which pairs athletes with children and adults with physical, mental and developmental special needs”. As a part of “I Run 4”, her partner is Johnny, a nine-year-old boy with cerebral palsy. Melanie commits to walk and run for Johnny so she can give him the medals from her races.

She also participates in the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides” fundraiser, which supports breast cancer patients.

At NCI, Good is involved a variety of organizations. She works with the veterans group, Women in Corrections, Wings, and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. She also initiated and annually helps coordinate the “Fathers Matter” event at NCI; an event that helps strengthen the bond between offenders and their children.

Due to the many activities and organizations that Melanie Good donates her time and effort towards, we are happy to name her the ORDC Employee of the Year for Community Impact.
