Northeast Reintegration Gets a Jump on Spring
Ohio Central School System (OCSS)teacher David Eames’ students and apprentices were the recipients of a valuable Tree Steward Training. The workshop that is led by Colby Sattler, from the Western Reserve Land Conservancy and Chad Clink, from the Holden Arboretum.
The training was conducted over three days and touched on the importance and value of trees in urban areas. Students learned about tree selection, planting, pruning and maintenance while the stewardship training culminated with the planting of three trees on the NERC grounds.
One student commented, “It felt like a typical spring day to be out here digging in the dirt and planting trees that we know will be here long after we leave. Reminding me the I am just in the spring of my life.”
There are plans for continued projects with the Western Reserve Land Conservancy to serve the local community by planting more trees.
