Representatives from the Office of Programming, Development and Evaluation joined partners from Job and Family Services at the London Correctional Institution (LoCI) to assist offenders in their preparations for life after prison.

The representatives work with case managers, unit managers, teachers, librarians, and administrative staff in an effort to utilize the Ohio Means Jobs program.

Staff and offenders learned about Ohio Means Jobs and how beneficial completing an application prior to one’s release can assist an individual. In fact, often an offender who takes advantage of this program can have an interview scheduled with a company upon their release.

Representatives from Job and Family Services also met with four offenders who are assigned to work in the library at LoCI. They instructed the men on how to navigate through the Ohio Means Jobs application process.

Now, with advance knowledge of this program, these four men can assist other offenders as they work to submit applications prior to release.

This program, which continues expanding around the state, is yet another example of the rehabilitative work being done to successfully prepare Ohioans for returns to their communities.
