A number of family members and friends were invited to Richland Correctional Institution (RiCI) to witness the commencement ceremony celebrating over 100 graduates in various education based areas. The theme of the ceremony was, “What happens to you is small, compared to how you react to what happens to you”.

RiCI Deputy Warden of Special Services, Tim Milligan, welcomed the attending civilians and graduates. School Principal, Ernest Mack (RiCI/ManCI) congratulated the offenders on their accomplishments. Afterwards, the graduates visited with attending family members while enjoying refreshments.

RiCI graduates were recognized for course work completion in areas such as Adult Basic Education, Pre-GED and GED. Those honored included offenders who completed Janitorial, HVAC and Animal Training apprenticeships.

Offenders who graduated Career-Technical programs were also recognized. These programs include Auto Collision repair, Baking, Carpentry, and Drywall. Offenders also were honored with certificates for their work attending Ashland University. The programs spanned from Basic Business, Office Management, Business Management, Office Technology, Retail Management and Retail Sales.

The Education commencements are a biannual event at RiCI.
