The prancing horse, the Scuderia, the “red car that goes vroom-vroom”, all are words used to describe perhaps the most famous car brand in existence, Ferrari. Even non-car lovers/ enthusiasts have a soft spot for these beautiful rides, sometimes mistaking sportscars from other brands to be one of these prancing horses, especially if it is painted in gorgeous red.

Started by the enigmatic founder, Mr Enzo Ferrari, every automobile from the stable was always about one thing, the engine. It was the soul of the car, and evidently, those souls have sold well.
The brand has done so well and released so many cars just in 2021, making it difficult to pick just 3 from the stable of thoroughbreds at their disposal. But hey, I picked the three I would love to have and so, from screaming V8’s to booming v12’s to even the turbocharged, hybrid or fully electric future(s), here’s a look at what you could buy if your bank account had a lot of zeroes and you had a certain love for the Italians.

The Sickest Ride in Town

Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta

It seems like Ferrari’s engineers and designers had a field day with this car, but the branding team really dropped the ball. Literally translated to Ferrari The Ferrari, the Laf was Ferrari’s first foray into the world of hybrid tech. While Toyota made the Prius be green, Ferrari was using this technology to be, as the eloquent Lightning McQueen put it “I am speed”.
It was perhaps the most desired car of the holy trinity (comprising of the equally bonkers McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder), and the Aperta was this honking rocketship with its roof chopped off. Why? So that you could get over your bad hair day whilst listening to the orgasmic symphony of the V12 nestled behind your gluteus Maximus. And hot diggity damn, it looked so sick.

Even now, some 5–6 years later, it raises more eyebrows and stares than your average hypercar. You don’t need it or want it, you lust for it.

Alternatively, if the limited run of the Aperta is just not limited for you, why not check out the Daytona SP3, the latest Special Project from the lads at Fiorano.

Based on the older Ferrari Daytona and a chassis that looks suspiciously modified from LaFerrari Aperta no less, the new Daytona is only available to the highest levels of Ferrari clienti. Better cosy up with your local dealer if you wanted one. I on the other hand still think a standard (if you can call a multimillion-dollar, 1000hp car standard) Aperta to still be the most modern Ferrari.

The Ultra Expensive Family Hauler

Ferrari GTC4Lusso

Can a supercar costing 300,000 be considered practical? Well, if you are a Ferrari client and can afford a LaFerrari Aperta, then 300,000 should be a chump change for you. How nice it must be to exchange it with your local Fezza dealer for a hatchback called the Lusso.

Available in both a scorching turbocharged V8 or screaming V12, the Lusso provides some decent 4 seating (compared to say its Portofino or Roma lineup where only kids or adults with no legs will find the back comfortable), decent luggage space and infinite cool status. It’s not a 5 door hatchback, but hey, once you get inside and listen to the sound of the engine, you just stop caring.

You have to buy one of these second hand though as the Lusso is soon to be discontinued for Ferrari’s Upcoming Purosagne SUV. Wonder what that would look like.

The sporty car for the sporty lad/lass

Ferrari 488 Pista

I know I know, the 488 Pista ain’t exactly new. Its successor (sort of), the F8 Tributo is almost similar in performance and a hell of a lot cheaper. And the new 296 GTB does spank its horse ass in terms of raw horsepower. But a sports car isn't just about straight-line speed. It's about how it looks, how it drives, how it feels to be on the edge of the limit. For that, a car, which is literally called the Ferrari 488 Track (presumably they mean Track edition), is the best experience.

Not only does it tick all the boxes, but hot diggity damn is it fast. Really fast. And if you want to have the roof down, you can even get the Spider version. Although why you would want to add weight to a track car with a folding roof mechanism is a question in itself.

So there we go. Possibly the best way to show off via a set of wheels. What do you think? Do you guys feel like other cars deserve a spot on the list? Let me know in the comments below. Hope y’all enjoyed it!
