LIFE OUTSIDE THE EXAM FACTORY
Wanting a better life for my children I decided it was time to take action and so I recently set up Dream Explorers with Tom Harris, a teacher wanting the same for all his children and this is what it is….
Dream Explorers is about helping our children to be happy today, tomorrow and for the rest of their lives. We want to open their minds, give them ideas and show them the endless possibilities out there for them.
Their education is very important, and learning to read, write and maths are essential. But there is more to their education that is just as important and thats discovering who they are.
This is a time for them to explore, to see and experience things in a creative way, engaging them and letting them find out what makes them happy, what they enjoy and what they are good at. We want to help them build dreams and do things they love. We want them to learn how to collaborate, how they are an important part to helping others achieve their dreams as well as their own. And we want them to go into adulthood with a mindset of knowing they can do anything they choose with passion and purpose.
We want school to be a part of their life, NOT their whole world. We want Dream Explorers to offer life outside of school (that exam factory), so that if they have day to day difficulties then their whole works won’t crash down around them. Their world won’t fall apart because they can enjoy the Deeam Explorers education, friends and the network of people they have met, do fun stuff with, talk to, helping them maintain happiness and get them better equipped to deal with challenges they may experience in school.
We will deliver the chance to:
‘Meet inspiring people – ‘Happy Unconventionals’
Learn about themselves and discover their dreams
Learn to identify and grow their skills and see where the skills can take them.
Learn about the world and how and why they are an important part of it.
This is a journey for Tom and myself and we are learning the best way to achieve all we set out to do. This idea is moving and evolving all the time and will continue to do so as we learn more.
We are having a launch event on Sunday 24th April 2016. This will be a chance for children to have some real fun with a few taster sessions and learn a little about the ‘Science of Happiness’. This is a chance for us to get feedback and ideas so we can grow and develop Dream Explorers.
