After weeks caged up at homes under covid-19 attack, hundred of millions people worldwide have settled into their isolated lives. Well, there are no other way except settleing down.
But as a global citizen, it’s shocking to read and watch how fast the new novel Corona Virus has shut down this world. We are working from home, students are attending classes online. But public transport peoples, restaurents, daily labors are in great trouble. Somewhere it’s stopped and somewhere slowed down. Some people are getting releifs and some are just asking for a share in street dogs food.
EVERYTHING around the world have been postponed, and after the pandemic from the economy to social interactions, everything will be changed.
When the coronavirus epidemic hit China first, many peoples worst fears were that their family would fall ill. But as the days under self-quarantine rolled into weeks, their biggest concerns shifted to how to occupy themselves cooped up in their own houses. At first China and now rest of the world, hundreds of millions of people have been under lockdown or quarantine since late January, people are attempting to go about their lives as normally as possible. Barred in many cities from leaving their homes, they are making do without regular trips to the supermarket, coffees with friends, or physical contact with the outside world.
But when it was only China, their nationwide hibernation, now credited by some experts with helping the country slow the epidemic, could be a sign of what’s to come globally as the U.S., Europe and South Asia race to combat the deadly virus. As per WHO, there is no alternative of lockdown to save the world.
CORONA IN GLOBAL MARKET & ECONOMY
Due to global pandemic novel coronavirus, in the first quarter of the year, in China, more than 460,000 companies are shutting down permanently. Investigating their corporate informations it is found that these companies are formed in last three (3) years. From there, 26000 companies are directly realted to countries export field. Recent statistics says that, forming new businesses are even low now.
After 1976, China’s economy never got so squeezed. But their Central Bank thinks that their economy wheel will start moving and that will be eye-catching again by next three months. The stunning thing is, China’s stock market is stable now than any other countries stock market.
According to a research it was found that, near about 10 million people will loose their jobs in USA and more than 250 million people worldwide. As per Al-Jazeera’s news source, economists are giving predictions that even though US Govenment and Central Banks federal reserves amazing control, more than 100,000 peoples employment opportunity will be shutdown permanently within next 3 months. Economists also said, after the corona crisis, many people will get jobs but less salary, less investment and insecure future will remain same after 2020.
Corona is not only affecting peoples life, it also affecting in global economy, which results downwards of businesses and staffs spending nights anxiously. As per The U.S. Department of Labor's, from 14th–21st March, 3.3million people applied for unemployment benifits, which is a record. In 1982, near about 0.7million people applied for Unenployment benifits, but this time the number is 5 times more than that. Specialists assumes that, this unemployment rate will be more than 13%.
IMF’s chief warns that, after 1930 world economy is facing a worst time and it’s economical growth will be too negative to sustain. But it may regain by the end of 2021, if this pandemic ends by the middle of 2020. This covid-19 will push near about 500 million people to the poverty worldwide.
According to London based magazine, The Economists Intelligence Unit (EIU), “The world is already facing a recession, and there is also a chance to face another greatest recession when this Pandemic will end, than the great 1930’s global economical recession.”
The reason they stated is, “Different govenments are announcing different loan packages to fight with this pandemic in this very crucial time. But their this sovereign loan will push this world economy to another recession.”
LIFE AFTER CORONA
Lots of things will get changed, when there will be no restriction on us to breath in peace.
Harvard researchers said, we need to keep social distance till 2022 to if we don’t want another outbreak of this pandemic. Worldwide toursim sector will come into a normal situation at the end of 2023. That means, we need near about 2–3 years more to come into our regular social life.
But the question is, in this technological era, after 2–3 years practice in different lifestyle, can we go back to our old social communicative life?
For maximum of us, the answer will be a big NO.
Social Distance and Dependency on Internet
Nowadays getting someone’s company gives us pleasure, even though we need to keep social distance to avoid COVID-19 risks. But time is changing. We are forgetting our neighbours too. There will be a time when people will feel better if they stay only with their family or stay alone. They will try to avoid the public gathering unless it’s an emergency. The message “Is this safe to share all these conversations over online?” will replace with “Is this much-needed to meet for further conversations?” More or less, everyone will face the same. But those who are still not under the shield of proper internet connections, will face more difficulty. Communications everywhere will be much stronger over the internet. It will increase the communication but also will create a gap between human interactions.
Using the internet, people also will try to avoid some people made obstacles, like Medicare, Online Classes & homework, Work from Home, etc. Though we can’t convert every environment to a virtual environment.
But in this updated technological world, what if we can meet doctors and get advice over online (not in serious cases). Using video conferencing tools like, Skype, Microsoft Teams or FaceTime teachers may ask for permission to take classes online and getting the homework too, when it will be very tough to bring back the environment they used to get in academic institutions. Students may not get interested in campus students’ hall.
Not every office is okay for WFH (Work from Home), but many of them are now dealing with that. Using VPN apps and proper internet connection at home gives you the freedom to work from anywhere you want. Except for a few permissions from Line Managers, everything goes smoothly. Over WFH, staff working harder, and management raise their expectation to another level as well. So there is a chance that management and employees will seek for WFH facility when this pandemic ends.
Maybe everything is not happening now in Bangladesh, but somewhere in the world will surely start. Just think for a moment, isn’t it nice if you can meet a doctor while working, without wasting a minute of your time in a traffic jam?
Equality in Work Recognition
Patriotism doesn’t mean only your military or police force. You can’t kill a virus by shooting a bullet. If it was possible then I think China was enough to kill this coronavirus. Today the people who are fighting from the front are not our listed or hired soldier, they are our doctors, nurses, pharmacists, teachers, clerk, cleaner, small entrepreneur or their staffs. Suddenly they got excessive responsibility where there is a high chance to get infected even death. But we never asked for their permission when the pandemic starts.
When they will get done this arduous task, we will recognize them as a patriotic. We will salute the Doctors ad Nurses and will say “Thank you for saving this world”, which we are now using for police or military soldiers. They will get the facility of health insurance and corporate discounts for working in this hazard environment. Maybe, at last, we will know that it is much precious and patriotic to save a nations health and maintain safety, then Bombard and blow up a nation.
World without Boundary
The Corona epidemic has devastated our entire system. This has led to the possibility of coming out of the world, which has stuck with political and cultural polarization for more than 50 years. It will help us in greater world solidarity. The first reason is the “indifferent enemy” scenario, which gives people a mentality to forget about their problems and fight against this outsider enemy. COVID-19 appeared before us as a terrible enemy, which does not discriminate and at the same time can provide us with the strength to unite and help to realize the purpose of uniting.
More development focus in Medicine Sector
It’s been 5 months, and we can’t invent a vaccine yet for COVID-19. Every government is a failure on this. Because the government is still supporting the investment of the private sector rather than doing something by themselves. For this reason, we still need to wait for 12–18months to get a corona vaccine. The Government should take direct and effective roles for medicine development and production. It is time to change the scenario of the last 40 years medicine policy, that are more profit-centric than catering to people’s needs. The essential medicines of the people should be established in the hands of the state, not in the hands of the private institutions.
Dependency on Science
The most popular preacher of truth is Science. However, the credibility of science has declined for more than a generation. At first, Republicans, claim that the reports that came out with Corona Virus were not from science, but purely political. And that seemed reasonable to millions of people. But now Americans are becoming increasingly acquainted with the bacterial theory and the scientific concepts. Those who were sceptical about the effects of tobacco and or scientific reasoning of climate change are now seeing the effects of coronavirus rapidly. We can hope that in the next 35 years peoples trust in specialist skill on public health and pandemic will increase at least a bit.
Just as we must all stay at home to reduce the ravages of this pandemic, we must put the economy to sleep in the best way we can to await better times. We need to be better prepared for circumstances like this in the future and Our politicians need to be more awake to the new ideas. We are taught proper hygiene techniques as kids but as adults, we only implement this when it is “flu season.” This event has been a wake-up call to many not to take health and hygiene for granted as well. We will overcome this if people make smart decisions in response to the pandemic and do not panic.
