Consider the following data points when The Show 19 Marketplaces opens. The marketplace will be volatile. Know your targeted players’ historical price points and demand peaks.

There are a number of players on the cusp of greatness in the MLB. The player ratings in MLB The Show ’19 reflect this. Every Friday, the developers at Sony San Diego will be* updating the tiers of player cards.

If we play the marketplace right, the difference between a 78 overall silver card and an 80 overall gold card can provide a significant return on investment.

Gleyber Torres, 78 Overall Silver Card

Gleyber is a star in the making in the Bronx. He knocked out 24 home runs last year with a .271 average. Gleyber will need to cut down on his strikeout rate this season to sustain these numbers. Watch him early on to see if he is making adjustments. Gleyber has power to all fields. A hitter with that level of skill at the age of 22 should be able to adapt.

Torres is currently selling for $3k stubbs on the open marketplace. Compare that to his counterparts at 2b within the gold tier: Whit Merrifield, Gold Card 81 Overall, Ask: $4100; Ozzie Albies, Gold Card 80 Overall, Ask: $5667; Robinson Cano, Gold Card 80 Overall, Ask: $4600.

If Torres can boost his ratings by two points and earn a promotion to gold, his baseline price should move close to $1k stubbs higher off his current top Ask Price.

Jose Berrios, 79 Overall Silver Card

Berrios was picked by Yahoo Sports as a darkhorse to win the American League CY Young Award this year. If he plays like the Ace he is capable of, his 79 overall rating won’t last long.

Berrios is currently showing a max Ask price of $2k stubbs. Clearing the 82 overall threshold comes with significant gains in price. Consider the following comps: Walker Buehler, 82 Overall Gold Card, Ask: $4444; Madison Bumgarner 82 Overall Gold Card, Ask: $3333.

Jackie Bradley Jr.

Jackie Bradley Jr.’s cannon in the OF might be worth his $600 stubb ask price right now. He sports a 95 arm strength, 81 for accuracy, and 76 reaction rating. Centerfielders with gold status in the low 80’s sit with an ask price of $4k or higher. Four overall points for JBJ is all he needs, and his stock can pop over $3k stubbs.
