A Weekly Meditation Series

Metaverse Meditations with Forza Horizon (June 6th, 2022)

I share this week’s reflections and a music playlist for cruising in Microsoft’s racing metaverse, Forza Horizon. Take a deep breath and read the words I put down.

Just breathe. Take your time to read these words. The world knows we need more meditation and peace in our lives and in how we move through the world.

This week, I’m racing around in Forza’s Road Racing Series at The Meadows Sprint. I don’t end a session until I land a podium finish in any given race. Such a goal requires me to master the racetrack and all of its expertly crafted corners.

Forza Horizon 4's UK Metaverse. This week, I’m going for gold at The Meadows Sprint of the Road Racing Series.

I play through maybe a dozen times before I can even begin to compete at a high level. There is not stopping until I find the apex in every turn as I learn to race at the right pace for each leg of the circuit. I study my opponent’s line, and then improve on it.

More importantly, I can use Forza Horizon to study and improve myself. I can shape my emotional intelligence and develop resolve by reflecting on how I respond to challenges found in every turn. It sounds intense but it does not always have to be. I’ve found that if I am zooming at 185 mph, and if I do it with a smile, I flow better with the racetrack and the racers around me.

I am listening to some melodic vocals on “Promises (Myon Summer of Love Reboot)” by Andain.

Outside of the Forza metaverse, I am recovering from long-COVID. I think I’ve finally found some resolve to endure it. I am finding ways to get back my health and I just hit the Peloton for the first time in months. A small victory.

I’ve learned if we can find peace with where we are at this moment in time, we can elevate one another with our healthy state of being — even when we are up against it, and the world feels as if it is racing at 185 mph around us.

Remember to take some time to yourself to find some quiet in your day. And if you want to cruise around with me, you can find me in Forza Horizon 4’s countryside in a red Acura NSX, zooming around in the Forza metaverse.
