Apex Legends is celebrating its first anniversary, and instead of receiving gifts, the Respawn team is giving gifts to all Apex players. The title’s fourth season is called “Assimilation” and will launch on February 4, exactly one year after the game went live.

Assimilation loosely follows the model of the previous seasons as it will introduce a series of changes and new additions to the game.

Apex’s season four is going to be big, but let’s start from the bonus:

Free login rewards

It’s not a birthday party without cake and presents, and players are getting both. During the first week of Assimilation, players who log in will receive a bundle called the “Anniversary Gift.” It will contain an origami gun charm, a dynamic badge, and an XP bonus, according to EA’s website.

And now let’s dive deeper into the changes:

  • New legend Revenant
  • New weapons
  • Battle Pass
  • Changes to Ranked Series 3
  • Changes to the map

New Legend Revenant

Revenant is a simulacrum, a term used in the Titanfall universe to loosely define a robotic body with a human mind implanted into it. He will only have the ‘Regular’ stance going forward. Here’s what they reported:

Passive: Infiltrator — Climb walls higher and crouch walk faster.

Mark for Death — Fire a poison dagger. Press a button to reveal the target’s location for up to 60 seconds. The mark is removed if the target heals to full.

Poison Bomb — Launch a Poison Bomb that damages and slows targets hit. This skill will likely deal Area of Effect (AoE) damage.

Death Recall: Drop a totem that protects anyone who uses it from death. Instead of getting killed or downed, you’ll return to the totem with 20 health.

Sentinel Sniper Rifle

Players will be kicking off season 4 with a new bolt-action sniper rifle, The Sentinel, which features a charge mechanic that encourages players to think before committing to a powerful shot.

The Sentinel is supposed to give players “little more decision making” by asking themselves if they want to “take the most powerful shot you can take right now” or not, according to McCord. Community lead, Jay Frechette, said: the sniper has a “neat twist” that feels almost as if it had “another fire mode.”
