World’s Edge is the second map in the Apex Legends universe and is located on the planet of Talos. All of our favorite Apex Legends will be making their way to this location from the game’s first area of King’s Canyon on Planet Solace.

The new map contains various climates that have resulted in there being a wide range of different environments available for players to explore in their battles. According to the official description of this arena, World’s Edge is where “molten heat and chemical ice collide.”

Main points:

  • World’s Edge Named Locations: 15 / Kings Canyon Named Locations: 17
  • Biggest Location: Capitol City
  • Smallest Location: Overlook
  • Northernmost Location: Refinery
  • Southernmost Location: The Dome
  • Easternmost Location: Overlook
  • Westernmost Location: Lava Fissure

What’s New?

- The new Apex Legends map is actually larger than Kings Canyon, about twice the size! This was a well-needed change to lessen the number of 3rd party encounters. You will also spend more time traveling between areas in the open-world, which could result in more sniping encounters (Thank god for the Charge Rifle).

- The map focuses more on vertical areas rather than horizontal areas. You’ll find quite a few buildings with multiple floors.

- A train has replaced the supply ship. It travels around the map, and you can board it to grab some loot or get from place to place.

- A new feature called Vaults has been added. Three vaults are placed around the map that require Vault keys to unlock and feature high and legendary tier loot.

- There are no more flyers, but rather spheres that change colors. You can destroy them at the moment the sphere is a particular color to collect loot of that color.

Skyhook

- Size: Medium

- Popularity: High

- Supply Bins: 26

Skyhook can be found at the northern edge of the map and is one of the more popular places to drop. There’s plenty of loot to go around for several squads both at Skyhook itself (the big tower) and in the buildings surrounding Skyhook. Once you’ve finished looting Skyhook, it’s generally a good idea to avoid Epicenter and instead go south to the Drill Site and Train Yard, respectively. One of the good things about dropping at Skyhook (or any other place at the edge of the map) is that if you manage to survive the first five minutes and gear up, you’re in a good position, as players won’t be behind you.

The Dome

- Size: Large

- Popularity: Medium

- Supply Bins: 22

The spot is at the right bottom of the map. It includes several areas that collectively form quite a large POI. It contains 22 supply bins, which while a lot are quite spread out. This makes it an okay choice for scavenging, but it’s going to take some time. If you land here, you need to be on the lookout for other squads. You’ll have to move fast to loot up in time, so staying aware is vital.

Refinery

- Size: Small

- Popularity: Medium

- Supply Bins: 25

Refinery is one of my favorite places to drop on the new map. There are only a few buildings here, but each building has a ton of loot. Whereas other areas make you go in and out of several buildings in search of loot, The amount of gear you can loot prepares you for your push into the Epicenter. Since the Epicenter is comprised of a lot of buildings, by the time you push in, you should have better gear than your enemies.

The Epicenter

- Size: Small

- Popularity: Medium

- Supply Bins: 15

The Epicenter can be a great place to drop. It’s not overly crowded, and there’s usually plenty of loot there to kit out your squad; however, the downside is it’s sandwiched between Refinery and Capitol City. Capitol City isn’t an issue as you’ll have the high ground over the players there, and from Capitol City, you can head South rather than North, so the chance of being third partied is slim.

Drill Site

- Size: Small

- Popularity: Low

- Supply Bins: 13

This is one of the smallest POIs on World’s Edge. It features only 13 Supply Bins and not many buildings. While it’s still a better place to land than the middle of nowhere, you’re not going to find as much loot. The benefit is that you’re unlikely to find other squads in this spot. If you’re after a quiet start to the game, this might be the perfect place on World’s Edge to do so.

Overlook

- Size: Small

- Popularity: Medium

- Supply Bins: 19
