When and where players spawn on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer maps has been a point of contention since before the original came out in 2007. But, the reboot of the franchise is having some unique issues all its own. Some players are spawning into the game in mid-air, occasionally causing them to fall to their deaths.

Multiplayer itself has a ‘realism’ mode, but what else is there? Come with us as we dive into the game’s Multiplayer modes, get you through your first game, and beyond.

The full list of regular game types can be found below:

- Free-For-All — similar to Team Deathmatch, but with no teams. Eliminate as many players as you can before the time and/or score limit.

Team size: 1

- Gunfight O.S.P. — In Gunfight O.S.P., weapons are found on the ground and various walls. Run to a weapon, pick it up, and prepare for battle. There is a prompt to pick up the weapon; press it, and you’re good to go. Also, you’ll find lethal and tactical equipment like Stuns or Frag Grenades. Pick up what you can and try to communicate it to your teammate. Once you have your loadout, it’s business as usual. Take out the other team in any way possible or capture the flag during the endgame to secure the victory.

Team size: 2

- Search and Destroy — a classic Call of Duty game mode and for a good reason. It tests the skill and coordination of a team and forces players to play differently than they would in almost any other game mode.

Team size: 6

- Team Deathmatch — two teams face-off with a straightforward goal: eliminate the opposition. Each takedown of an enemy player awards a point for your team. The first team to reach the point limit, or the team that earns the most points within the time limit, wins the match.

Team size: 6

- Kill Confirmed is a variant of Team Deathmatch that requires players to pick up dog tags dropped by killed players to score points. In Team Deathmatch, when you kill an enemy, your team gets points. In Kill Confirmed, your team only gets points if you pick up the dog tags dropped by an enemy you’ve killed. Those tags are red. If you see blue dog tags, those are dog tags of your downed teammates that weren’t picked up by the enemy team.

Team size: 6

- Domination — an objective mode where two teams fight for control over three objective points.

Team size: 6

- Headquarters is a fast-paced objective-based mode that sees two teams pitted against each other to capture and hold the headquarters to earn points. The team that holds the headquarters doesn’t respawn so be careful when perusing through a map.

Team size: 6

- Cyber Attack has you and your team trying to grab an E.M.P. from the middle of the map and plant it on the opposing team’s server. Of course, your opponents are trying to do the exact same thing, so it can be rather hectic. Naturally, if you’d rather ignore the objective, you can always wipe out the other team.

Team size: 6

- Hardpoint is a returning game mode and has been in most of the recent Call of Duty games. In this mode, two teams must fight to capture a singular neutral Hardpoint. To capture a Hardpoint, a team must sit on it long enough for it to become theirs. Upon doing so, that team needs to hold the point for as long as possible to earn as many points as possible. The Hardpoint changes locations every few minutes, so be on the lookout for where it’s heading to next.

Team size: 6

- Night Vision Mode will pit two teams against each other in a map’s night variation. Your H.U.D. will be limited, forcing you to play more carefully since you do not know where an enemy may be!

Team size: 6

- Cranked mode requires players to continuously kill enemies to survive and rack up points. The first team to reach the score limit wins the match.

Team size: 6

- S- nowfight is a modified Gunfight and is a time-limited holiday-only game mode. It replaces the random guns with snowballs that players must pick up instead. Both pairs must use snowballs, their fists, and their wits to outplay the opposing team.

Team size: 6

- Infected. One infected player hunts down any survivor they see! Getting killed by an infected player will infect you! The Survivor team wins if at least one survivor remains when the timer expires. The Infected team wins when all enemies have been infected!

Team size: 6

- Grind mode — A mode that combines the rules of Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed, requiring players to return the dog tags of downed players to random areas in a map to gain points. Grind has replaced the Drop Zone mode.

Team size: 6

- Ground War — the polar opposite of Gunfight. This game mode features large-scaled objective-based combat with vehicles.

Team size: 32

What’s Coming?
