Fire or Fowl: IEM Chicago Preview
With the Intel Extreme Masters rolling into the Windy City today, we’re keeping you up-to-date on the players whose form has been hotter than the city’s famous deep dish pizza in this edition of “Fire or Fowl”.
The MVP of the championship-winning team at Blast Pro Series Copenhagen 2018 is in god-mode right now. Aside from his other-worldly performance, he put up 74 kills in an FPL match just before heading to Denmark. If you’re saying to yourself, 74 kills over a BO3 is pretty good but nothing amazing, consider that he racked those up on ONE map. Simply the best player in the world right now, if s1mple plays well, Na’Vi have a real shot at taking home the IEM Chicago trophy.
CS_Summit 3 was won by NRG, and Brehze played no small part in that, taking home the MVP honors. That, along with an EVP performance at ESL New York, has propelled the American and his team to surprising heights. Look for Brehze to be a key factor if NRG hope to topple the big boys.
Jame flies under the radar quite often, as Avangar aren’t usually at LANs. But, he showed up in Moscow at EPICENTER 2018, helping his team to a 3rd place finish in a fairly tough field. They beat HellRaisers convincingly. Jame has a 1.30 rating right now and must play even better than that for Avangar to do anything in the Windy City.
One of the best players in the world on his day, Rain’s form has been consistently dipping for the past five months. The win in Moscow at EPICENTER 2018 seems to have just been makeup on a really ugly stretch for FaZe. He needs to return to the way he was playing at the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018 for FaZe to avoid another embarrassing exit.
When Snax joined, Ropz seemed to be immediately less impactful than before. The Estonian youngster can take over matches when he’s on his game, but something about mouz changed when Styko left. Now that the Slovakian support has returned to the lineup, we’ll see if Ropz can rebound. They’ll need their whole team playing well to make a run at the title.
