Sixteen teams came and now only eight remain. With the group stage of Starseries Season 6 in the books, we take a look back at the first four days. We sat down with HellRaisers CEO and analyst for Starladder, Aleksey “Xaoc” Kucherov to see what he thought about the event so far. We also talked a bit about Starladder and the possibility of them hosting a major in the future.

Xaoс’s dream team of the group stage? Which five players were the best in your opinion?

First of all is bottle from CyberZen — he was really great in his matches. Sergej from Ence was excellent as well, and he was given the chance to prove his skills once again in this tournament. Refresh from Fragsters — great haircut and he is also good. The captain has to be JR — great aggressive team play. And on our second AWP is woxic — he is one of the best with this weapon. We’re double-AWPing as much as possible with this team.

What was the most disappointing team in the group stage of SS6?

Complexity. They are Major Legends so I don’t really understand what happened here. They couldn’t find their game at all. They didn’t have good teamwork nor did they have individual stars at this tournament, unfortunately.

Did you notice any strategies taken from the Major implemented in SSS6?

Nothing specific but I’ve really liked the aggressive style of Vega’s defense. It gives the team a lot of information and occasionally leads to them getting a surprising early pick.

Thoorin recently said that he hoped StarLadder would get a major in the near future. How do you think SL would do if it were selected to host one?

I’m sure it would be a great tournament. Starladder has tons of experience in hosting tournaments and it would be a great day for our audience if we finally got one.

Which team’s value has risen the most after the group stage?

Fragsters. They haven’t changed their roster in more than six months. They have good tactics and sometimes their individual plays are even world-class.

Out of the eight remaining teams in the playoffs, which do you think has the best chance to win?

North. They have been a bit more inconsistent than we’d like to see, but their teamwork and firepower has been pretty solid at StarSeries S6.

With the playoffs set to begin on Friday and favorites Mousesports and HellRaisers already eliminated, the rest of the tournament looks wide open. You can tune into Starladder’s channel on twitch.tv to see which team goes home with the trophy.

Who do you think has the best chance to be victorious? Let us know in the comments.
