What’s Past is Prologue

2019, as a transitional period, is witnessing rapid changes in the blockchain space as more stakeholders join in. This not only leads to industry reshuffle but brings more players and voices on board. As Blockchain becomes more known by the public, DREP stands out with the mission of building “connectors” and “toolkits” on blockchain. With that in mind, DREP relentlessly develops technologies that are accessible and user-friendly and provides solutions that are customized and frictionless in a way to help partners and fellow developers utilizing blockchain technology within their own domains.

Although blockchain space is constantly changing, DREP always holds that data-interoperability, accessibility and user experience are the core values of blockchain technology. So when we embrace these values and work in the direction, we believe this would certainly yield good results in the end. In 2019, the rise of many buzzwords coincides with the key concepts of DREP, for example, DeFi, Staking, and Cross-chain, proving that the technical framework built by DREP is forward-looking. In addition to improving and adapting to trending technologies, DREP also innovatively and independently develops its own products, such as Smart Pipeline, DREP SDK, etc. These applications, without doubt, would help DREP and its partners bear fruits in the product deliveries.

DREP Half-year Review — A Fruitful Past

Part One: Development Progress

  1. Evolution | DREP Testnet 1.0 Darwin Launched

201-day witnesses DREP tech team completed more than 1000 code submissions, fixed 34 bugs and improved 12 technology points. Then DREP Testnet 1.0 was released and officially opened source to the public.

The key technical breakthroughs for DREP Testnet 1.0 Darwin are as follows:

Hook Technology : scalability would no longer limit mass adoption

Reputation System and POR (Proof of Reputation): an incentive system that allows the redistribution of digital assets

Account Privacy Model: providing a new set of decentralized ID (DID) system to protect privacy

Customization: the parameters of DREP sub-chains could be easily customized according to their own needs, including block timing, gas, etc.

Smart Contract: reputation-based Smart Contracts are compatible with Ethereum Smart Contracts (EVM) and capable of lowering the threshold of technical usage and cost of learning

2. The Breaking Point | DREP Testnet 2.0 Riemann Launched

DREP Testnet 2.0 Riemann, evolved from DREP Testnet 1.0, optimizes a number of components including Client and Wallet in application side, Smart Pipeline technology enhanced from Hook, APIs and Plug-ins used by developers, making DREP the next-generation of “connector” and “toolkit” on blockchain.

An Overview of Functions in DREP Testnet 2.0 Riemann:

Smart Pipeline: DREP, based on Hook, innovatively created Smart Pipeline, which is capable of data processing in batches and active calling.

DREP ID System: DREP ID, serving as users’ “second identity”, is able to manage a large number of scattered addresses and accounts through DREP ID, connecting various digital assets.

DREP Client: DREP Client, the carrier of DREP ID, not only connects with corresponding Wallets at present, but also with DREP tradition platform partners and DApp platforms in the future to form an interconnected DREP ecosystem.

DREP Wallet: DREP currently supports BTC, ETH, DREP and other cryptocurrencies, and would continue to add more cryptocurrencies in the future. Under this circumstance, DREP manages to support multiple Wallets using the same currency.

DREP API and DREP Plug-in: DREP provides a multitude of API, Plug-in and many other development tools to facilitate traditional platforms integrating with blockchain, which greatly lowers the threshold for mass learning and using, and effectively links blockchain with real economy.

3. The Eternal Method | DREP Testnet 3.0 Euler Launched

DREP Testnet 3.0 Euler was launched on May 31, aiming at accelerating enterprise blockchain adoption and lowering the threshold for technology integration. DREP Testnet 3.0 Euler, evolved from DREP Testnet 2.0 Riemann, optimizes a number of components including P2P module, transaction pool module, node synchronization and transaction query. The 3.0 version also adds address alias feature, making DREP Chain more user-oriented and easy-to-use.

Optimized features in DREP Testnet 3.0 Euler include:

Optimization for P2P module: improves the stability and efficiency of the outbound nodes within the network, and enhances the security for the entire network.

Optimization of transactions/data block query for historical data: improves read and write speeds from 10 transaction data per second to 10,000.

Optimization of the transaction signature verification process: greatly increases TPS in the main chain. Previously, TPS for one single main chain was 1000, and now it could reach 6000 TPS.

Add golang to the Client, and use http to connect with the server: provides more options for exchanges to release free trial and official launch, and facilitates third-party developers to build platforms by using DREP source code.

Optimization for transaction pool: the read-write separation method is adopted so that the speed of receiving data in the transaction pool would not be constrained.

Optimization for node synchronization: the new node would only synchronize data to one full node, optimizing synchronization and increasing efficiency.
