DREP Testnet 2.0 Riemann is launched today, aimed at simplifying and accelerating DApp development. DREP Testnet 2.0 Riemann, evolved from DREP Testnet 1.0, optimizes a number of components varying including Client and Wallet in application side, Smart Pipeline technology enhanced from Hook, APIs and Plug-ins used by developers, making DREP become the next-generation of “connector” and “toolbox” in blockchain.

Overview of Functions in DREP Testnet 2.0 Riemann

DREP | Schnorr Multi-party Signature PBFT

DREP successfully deployed multi-party signature to PBFT system, reducing the cost of blockchain storage, at the same time, improving consensus and network transmission efficiency, which practically improves the efficiency of DREP chain.

DREP | Smart Pipeline

DREP, based on Hook, innovatively created Smart Pipeline, of which batch processing and active calling capabilities play a vital role in DApp development.

DREP | DREP ID System

DREP ID, serving as users’ “second identity”, is able to manage a large number of scattered addresses and accounts through DREP ID, connecting various digital assets.

DREP | DREP Client

DREP Client, the carrier of DREP ID, not only connects corresponding wallets at present, but also DREP tradition platform partners and DApp platforms in the future to form a interconnected DREP ecosystem

DREP | DREP Wallet

DREP currently supports BTC, ETH, DREP and other cryptocurrencies, and will continue to add more currencies in the future. Under this circumstance, DREP manages to support multiple wallets with the same currency. Moreover, cross-device wallet is available with keystore back-up.

DREP provides a multitude of API, Plug-in and many other development tools to facilitate traditional platforms integrate with blockchain, which greatly lowers the threshold for mass learning and using, and effectively links blockchain and real economy.

Aforementioned functions are insufficient to cover all innovations DREP has contributed to blockchain. DREP strongly believe that applications should understand actual industry needs and thus solve the real problems in blockchain development. Smart Pipeline Empowering Public Chain and DApp in Performance and User Experience

It is known that public chain has insufficient performance, but most of its negative effects are still in the dark. Slow trading is not the biggest problem; the slow DApp interaction is the biggest hindrance and has severely affected DApp development. According to surveys conducted by ETH, EOS and some other platforms, DApp, influenced by blocking speed, has very limited types. Take gaming as an example, developing Cards, SLG and other games requires a minimum of 15s for each action. In particular, gas consumption is excessive on ETH — a smart contract needs at least 0.0002 ETH to operate, and that’s merely the step one.

Smart Pipeline is the “pipeline” for data transmission between blockchain virtual machine and external application. Client transmits real-time data to external application through Smart Pipeline, after execution, external application sends the real-time result back to Client using Smart Pipeline. Moreover, Smart Pipeline can be inserted to each block execution procedure, whose location and corresponding execution code are selected as needed to improve execution efficiency.

DREP performed blockchainization and strengthened functions on Testnet 1.0 Hook mechanism, proposed Smart Pipeline, a technology similar to Layer 2 that expands DApp development scope and data processing capability. Based on Smart Pipeline, corresponding game code is still controlled by Pipeline despite of different block timing, satisfying decentralized governance requirements. Furthermore, data processing is performed by application outside blockchain, which is more suitable and efficient for gaming developers comparing with what virtual machine does. As chain is designed to store results in time, Smart Pipeline will not interfere with its operation, nor will it consume more gas due to logic complexity.

As Smart Pipeline is able to carry more data without gas consumption, at the same time, to generate more functions, new DApps are available. Taking DApp types and customer needs into consideration, blockchain gaming is the perfect sector for docking with low trial costs and high-performance requirements.

Blockchain Gaming, Trial Land for High Performance Requirement and Frictionless User Experience

Tradition gaming has dozens of genres, among which many are real-time, exemplified by most-popular StarCraft and Red Alert. Due to factors like infrastructure and design, blockchain gaming is unable to win popularity as tradition gaming does. Besides, VM mechanism is relatively underdeveloped comparing with data transmission and processing in gaming; as a result, blockchain gaming loses edge to attract tradition gaming players in terms of visual arts. On the contrary, Smart Pipeline is able to blockchainize real-time gaming through this Layer2-like approach, and develop complex games with zero gas consumption, attracting gaming developers’ and related studios’ attention who firmly believe in the prospects Smart Pipeline, API and Plug-in bring to DApp development.
