For anyone living on the East Coast of the United States, a trip “out west” is one of the quintessential experiences of your youth. Traveling to the west coast with friends is a trip that is well worth the effort. And there are many reasons you can use to convince your friends to take a road trip, instead of a trip to Europe or Hawaii.

Long trips are a better experience

While trips to Atlanta or Boston can be fun, they are just day trips compared to heading across the country. The only real way to experience, and enjoy, a road trip, is to make it as long as is humanly possible. And while there are most definitely going to be times you long for your own bed, there are many more times when you will think “there is nothing better than this.”

Amazing places to visit in the west

The road trip can be an experience of a lifetime, but the whole point of the journey is the destination. And there are many amazing places you can visit, which make the long drive something you will not regret. Some of the sites you can consider visiting are:

The Grand Canyon

For anyone heading out west, a visit to the Grand Canyon is a must-see trip. Incorporating part of the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon is one of the most amazing natural sights in North America.

For those who want to experience more of the Grand Canyon, there are white-water rafting trips that can take you along its entire length. It is an adventure that allows you to see deeper into nature’s miracles inside the canyon, and see things that never reach the light of day.

And for the highlight of the Grand Canyon, you can take a helicopter ride over the area. The trip gives you the chance to view the immensity of this natural phenomenon from on high, and savor its beauty.

Hoover Dam

Built in the 1930s, the Hoover Dam is one of the most impressive man-made structures in history. Not only is it a feat of engineering for its time, it still supplies hydroelectric power for much of the southwest.

Yosemite National Park

A little further north lies one of the country’s greatest natural landmarks. Part of the American Heritage sites, the park is a beautiful region and gives you a great opportunity to spend time in nature at its best.

Zion National Park

Down in Utah lies the Zion National Park, a canyon that is as beautiful as it is big. The area is full of wildlife, with more than 200 species of birds that live permanently in the canyon area.

There are also adventures within Zion that can thrill you, including rock climbing one of the many routes within the park canyon. The treks are a lot of fun and can give you a new perspective on the height of the canyon walls — something that is often not evident standing at the edge.

These sights and activities will leave a lasting impression on you and your friends, and leave you with a sense of achievement that will last a lifetime.
