Big News! TrackMyDrive has been acquired by Everlance. You can read the press release here.

A brief history

TrackMyDrive was started in 2012 as an effort to make mileage tracking and expense reports easy. In 2012 the App Store was relatively young and it was exciting to be part of the innovation as more people used their phone for all kinds of tasks. Over the years we have made improvements to the app and also maintained the app and the website. As the solo operator of the service, I was involved in all the tasks of the business (customer support, development, marketing, and sales).

Why the acquisition?

Recently Apple has been pushing for larger changes to the app in order to stay in the App Store. Recently, they have also changed requirements for how location services needed to be implemented in the app. Being the solo operator, it was difficult to stay up-to-date with these changes. I have also personally started a new job in October that is very taxing and I also am the father of four kids :) A few months ago it became clear that I would not be able to have the time to keep running the service. I explored some options, but in the end I wanted to find a great partner that could be a great landing place for each of you.

Meet Everlance

After meeting with Alex (the CEO of Everlance) and his team, I began to get excited about partnering with them. I looked at a variety of apps and was impressed with Everlance’s capabilities. It’s rated 4.9/5.0 in the app store and has features such as creating favorite locations, automatically classifying routes, setting work hours, etc. These were common feature requests that we didn’t have the time/resources to add.

What this means for TrackMyDrive

The website (trackmydrive.com) and the app will remain active until December 31st 2020 to allow enough time for you to get your account transitioned to Everlance. After the cutoff date the service will be shut down and the app removed from the App Store. Both Everlance and I are committed to helping you get your data transitioned over.

What happens with my subscription?

TrackMyDrive never deployed automatic subscriptions so you don’t have to worry about your credit card getting charged. Everlance has agreed to give a month off their annual subscription plan. This will more than cover the $8.99 that you might have paid for TMD this year.

How to transition

  1. Make sure all your current trips are categorized (swipe left or right to save them if using auto tracking).
  2. Create an account on Everlance with this link (make sure you use this link to quality for the free month off discount).
  3. Start using Everlance for your new trips.
  4. Follow this guide to learn how to import your existing data.

Thank You

Some of our users have been using the app for over 8 years! Thank you all for your support over the years! It has truly been a pleasure serving you!
