Most Instagrammed Places in Los Angeles

You can judge a book by its cover, but can you judge a city by its Instagram fame? LA is any Instagrammer’s dream, always ready to be snapped and shared and pretty much always looking at its best. Here’s Skurt’s guide to the most Instagrammed destinations in Los Angeles.

Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier has it all — it’s a great day out, and makes for a mean instagram picture. This famous pier has been attracting many a visitor for its fun atmosphere since 1909 and shows no sign of stopping now. Ride the ferris wheel in Pacific Park, get sticky with cotton candy, compete in the Playland Arcade and explore underwater wildlife in the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

LACMA is perhaps LA’s most famous museum, but it’s definitely its most Instagrammed. With around 13,000 object of display from around the world and nearly a million visitors a year, it’s no wonder this museum is such a hit. The eclectic collection ranges from contemporary art, through to Islamic writings and Greek ceramics. Don’t miss Urban Light, Chris Burge’s large-scale assembly of lampposts outside of the museum.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

Walk amongst the stars at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where the names of the famous (and the infamous) are carved into glittering stars on the pavement. There’s nothing quite like squatting down next to the name of a much-beloved star to show the world that yes, you are in LA and you aren’t afraid to show it.

Walt Disney Concert Hall

Beautiful architecture, stunning acoustic and renowned musicians; why wouldn’t the Walt Disney Concert Hall be instafamous? This $274 million concert hall is famed for its rich acoustics and its out-of-this-world architecture. The large auditorium features gorgeously curved, high ceilings and an open platform stage. The concert home is home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts a roster of music stars to perform on its stage.

The Hollywood Sign

Tourists flock the the Hollywood Sign like bees to honey to take endless pictures of themselves next to this iconic landmark. Why? Because it’s really kind of cool (in a we would never say this out loud way because we are too LA to care). The nine white letters represent Hollywood’s mantra — big, bold and always in the limelight for all to see. Need another excuse? The views over LA are pretty spectacular, especially at sunset. A classic capture that never gets old.

Universal Studios, Hollywood

Universal’s iconic image of the earth emblazoned with with Universal in bold writing is one that we’re all too familiar with. It’s no wonder then that it’s the picture to take when you arrive at the studios. If you can drag yourself away from the camera, the studio tour offers a peek into the worlds of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, The Transformers or The Walking Dead for a fun day out.

The Dodgers Stadium

The Dodgers Stadium has been the home of the Dodgers and seen the tears, joy (and sometimes pure rage) of many a fan since it opened in 1962. Grab yourself a drink and a snack, take a selfie or five (plus a picture of the stadium for reference) then kick back and enjoy the game.

Bottega Louie

Bottega Louie is known for its sweet pastries and culinary finesse, not to mention the sheer prettiness of the treats on offer. Instagram is filled with pictures of their intricate desserts and savoury desserts but their true claim to Insta-fame is their macarons, which come in a rainbow of pastel colours and tempting flavors. Snap then eat. Rinse and repeat.

Alfred’s Coffee

“But first coffee”. How many of us can get behind Alfred’s well-known slogan? We certainly can. Perhaps it should also say is “But first, let me Instagram it”, as this Melrose cafe is surrounded by social media savvy visitors, poised and ready for a picture with their iced teas and coffees. If ever a cafe was designed to be snappable, this is it.

Venice Beach

Venice Beach is too good an opportunity to pass up when you’re hunting for something a little different in LA.. With splashes of graffiti, the skate park, the boardwalk, the outdoor gym and the beach, Venice Beach is an Instagrammer’s heaven.
