The DroidKaigi 2018 call for papers is now open!

DroidKaigi is a developer conference which is focused on the best of Android. DroidKaigi 2018 takes place from Feb 8–9 2018, comprised of 2 days of talks, sponsor exhibitions, and an after party.

We hold DroidKaigi every year, and this is the 4th edition of DroidKaigi. In DroidKaigi 2017, more than 600 Android developers attended. If you’d like to see the sessions from last year’s DroidKaigi, you can check them out at https://academy.realm.io/jp/posts/droidkaigi2017-all/.

We are trying to make DroidKaigi more satisfying for all those coming each year. So we are preparing hands-on sessions, code labs, attractive and interesting sessions, chances to communicate with other developers and of course great meals :)

Because we are welcoming Android enthusiasts coming from abroad, DroidKaigi is also calling for English talks.
Last year, we had 8 sessions which were presented all in English. We are also excited to have English sessions this year, so we are looking forward you to joining DroidKaigi 2018!

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge of Android technology, submit your paper and become a speaker of DroidKaigi 2018!

The theme of this year’s event is ‘niche technology’. Of course, we are also open to themes like architecture and basic knowledge of establishing a development environment.
Android OS is used in various ways, and we have a lot to talk: application, frameworks, test development and service development. But if it comes to a session, we start to think about target audience. “How many people want to learn about this theme…?” — However you don’t need to worry about this :)
Why not submit a paper which is targeted to only 30 people, not all 800 attendees!!

Last year, 76 papers were selected of 170 papers, and of that 20% of papers were from abroad.
We acknowledge that it is a big step to put forward a paper at a large conference, so anyone who submits a paper will be eligible for a discounted ticket.
The selection process is based on how unique the talk is — so specialized talks are more than welcome! There are some hints in the `top` of the application form, so please have a look!
We’d like you to write the details of a target audience, what you’d like to talk and themes in the `Description` of the form.

DroidKaigi will use the entire 5th floor of the Bellesalle Shinjuku Grand, so we have a variety of rooms from small rooms targeting hands-on and small sessions to several large rooms capable of holding many people.
We are looking forwarding to seeing the many papers and themes you put forward!!
