After much anticipation, LeeLoo, Princess Fiona and Sherry Lane finally visited Chur Burger, reportedly the “best burgers in town”, also rated first on “Talk of the Town” on Urbanspoon (now Zomato). The place definitely has that industrial hipster look with a hint of grunge. The name of the burger joint, “Chur” was scrawled in graffiti over the front wall.

Inside rap music is blaring and the place is packed. It’s dimly lit with eclectic furnishings, some small circular tables scattered here and there admist some high tables with white metal stools for seating. Just as an aside, we hadn’t tried making a booking and just rocked up and was told they’d call us in around 25 minutes when a table would be free (great system!). Note Chur burger also offers takeaway burgers. Winning (if you’re in a hurry)!

The menu and wine list is placed at each table along with a whole variety of condiments. You pay and order at the counter, receive your table number to place on your table. The service is very efficient and we received our food in about 5 or so minutes.

All burgers are $12, all sides are $6 and all milkshakes are $8 (Too easy!)

LeeLoo had the Crumbed fish fillet, pickled cucumber, lemon mayo, dill burger. Really crunchy batter on the fish topped with a layer of pickled cucumber which added a refreshing flavour.

The Grilled beef cheese, tomato jam, mustard mayo, pickle burger was well executed. Sherry Lane had this and reported that it was scrumptious. The combination of tomato jam and mustard pickle was a very clever and tasty idea!

The Grilled lamb, mint sauce, feta, red onion, aioli burger was indeed succulent. Princess Fiona had this and exclaimed at how good it tasted. The mint sauce was very refreshing and the aioli was divine!

The strawberry milkshake was very creamy with a strong fruity strawberry flavour. The salted caramel milkshake was the perfect combination of salty and sweet. There was a strong taste of caramel which was thick and creamy. Very good choice of milkshake! Highly recommended.

The sweet potatoes fries with garlic and lime and chilli salted chips were an excellent addition to our juicy burgers. The sweet potato was just the right softness and became a lovely mush in your mouth. The chips were very crunchy and soft on the inside just as you would except a delicious hot chip to be and the added chilli gave it a sharp zing.

Overall

This is a great casual place to have a meal with friends. The atmosphere is lively and vibrant. Not the best for an intimate and romantic date though as it’s a bit hard to communicate with the loud music. The burgers really are delicious as are the milkshakes. We’ll be back again!

Verdict: Yummy in my Tummy

Service: 4/5

Cost: $25 per person
