What was once the stairwell to the monorail station in Darling Harbour is now the humble abode of Coffee Box Espresso, a cafe with a view. Owner and entrepreneur, Vasili Doukakis is a barista with a passion for the art of coffee making, which undoubtedly shines through the quality and taste of his coffee. There’s a reason it’s so busy here everyday.
After a nice stroll along Darling Harbour, I opted for lunch at Coffee Box Espresso eager to try their coffee. Feeling a craving for bacon, I couldn’t go past the bacon avo smash tomato sambo — and boy, was I impressed! The bacon was unlike any other for it was triple smoked, adding a completely new dimension to this already premium bacon. The smashed avo was equally delicious with subtle hints of cracked pepper, lemon, olive oil and oregano. All this, wedged between a perfectly toasted seeded bun. You can easily see how much care and attention Vasili takes when it comes to selecting quality ingredients. And of course, the latte was on point.

Coffee Box Espresso is the perfect place for your caffeine hit. It’s a great opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy the beautiful views of Darling Harbour, soak up some much-needed vitamin D and indulge in quality sandwiches, pastries, muffins and of course, excellent coffee! Highly recommend their bacon avo smash, the triple-smoked bacon really makes all the difference.
