Be empowered & hunt profitable trades with Dropspot Collection Insights.

With the recent release of Dropspot’s Marketplace, we broadened our platform by adding key features to support trade across the entire Cardano ecosystem.

These are unique to Dropspot and include our SuperCubes, Live Action Listener, Bulk listing, Rarity Analysis and Deep Collection Insights.

We’ve also verified over 400 new collections to Dropspot, and this number is growing daily.

As a trading platform, we aim to create the most exciting, intuitive and informative user experience. We do this not only by paying deep attention to our UI, but also what emotions that are invoked when interacting with Dropspot might be invoked (UX). 💡Hint: we also want these to be great!

Understanding value at a glance is a key goal of mine at Dropspot… Context and an appreciation for fair-value empowers you as a trader, gives you the capability to spot the most profitable trades, or if you are a collector, the ability to spot the best value holds.

Having the tools to do this at your fingertips, in one place… is a game changer. It will improve your abilities as a trader/collector and ultimately leave you having a better user experience; which is good for you, good for Dropspot and good for Cardano.

I used my twin brother as an early validation of this and being a first time NFT buyer…. he would be a great 🧪 litmus test.

The Challenge: Buy first NFT + 2x Portfolio Value

We used the recent mint of Mulga Kongs as our first choice, and although he loved the art and the project his first two questions were:

“Which is the best one to buy?”

“And how much money will / can I make from this purchase”

A degen through and through.. But he had no idea where to start, so I thought I’d answer his questions, and make my bro some $ADA with a walkthrough of our recent release 🔥.

Explaining Rarity

Dropspot calculates a rarity value for NFTs, for most collections on Cardano. We do this by processing the NFT trait metadata, and counting how many times this appears across the collection. This allows us to rank each NFT within a collection and provide accurate rarity information.

The more rare and NFT is, the more sought after and valuable it becomes.

Finding Rarity

“So how do you find the rare ones?” He asked.

I showed him through Dropspot’s rarity filters and how to check assets attributes, rarity, and estimated value:

Dropspot’s filters allow you to find the rarest items in a collection
Hover to flip: inspect attributes and rarity of the asset

Estimating Value

“How do you calculate the value of each NFT?” He then quipped. Getting pretty pumped on where he could see this going.

Once you know the rarity of an asset, you can analyse recent sales and current listings to get a ballpark price, it’s not perfect but gives you a great idea on what you’re buying or selling. Especially if you are new to this game.

Targeting a Purchase

“So which one should I buy?”

Now, almost yelling with excitement.

I took him to the insights section of the collection and we pulled up the rarity v price chart. I pointed out the faint lines representing the physiological levels (ie 1k, 2k) and the trait floors.

I also pointed out that most high volume collections end up forming a distinctive curve, and that those at the bottom of the curve represent the NFTs of highest rarity and best price.

“So they are the ones I should buy?”

Yes. Yes they are.

Identifying a rare Mulga, of very high rarity, and priced very low compared to its peers

Sitting low on the rarity x price curve, Mulga1124 sitting extremely high on rarity (top 1%) and low on price represented extreme value. One of only a few Mulga’s with a Mullet Yella.

“So should I buy it?”

A quick search on Dropspot’s aggregate marketplace on all mullets revealed that most were selling for 3x the price that old mate was listed for.

The purchase was quickly processed, and subsequently listed on Dropspot for a healthy profit when sold. He could easily sell this for 2x the price of purchase, and could not have identified this trade without Dropspot.

Takeway: Make Profitable Trades on Dropspot.
